Well, my 2 tone K100 finally got here. A loong 10 day (expedited?..... ) journey from Marstar to my hot little hands.

My first reaction to it, was this is an interesting piece of kit. Must have played with the slide watching the barrel rotate for a good 10 minutes :D . It feels good in my hands, although a bit top heavy when empty. That was most noticable when you put it down with no mag in it. With the safety off and no mag, the butt sticks up in the air a bit. With the safety on it sits level.

The DA trigger pull was a bit on the heavy side, but smooth all the way back. SA the trigger has some travel in her, but once I learned where the reset point was I had no problems. Accuracy was excellent, even in DA. Actually, I was a better shot using DA on the first shot. Bang on, every time. Follow up shots leaned left   . As my Nork does the same, I know it's me :bangHead: .

The mags were a bit of a challenge. All had 10th round issues. With the two that came with the pistol, I had to grind off the back of the follower a bit so the 10th round would fit in easier. They are pinned with a metal block, spot welded to the mag body. The aftermarket ones are blocked with dents in the body. I had to grind the followers to fit the dents better. All worked flawlessly afterwards.

Disassembly was an interesting experience. Read the book, checked web sites, sweared a lot  . The effin' slide didn't wanna come off! You almost need 3 hands to do it. One to hold the pistol, one to grasp the guard and pull it forward and down (and then hold it there) another one to pull the slide back and manipulate it up.....if you don't pull down right on the guard, the slide won't go all the way back.....Aaarrrrgh :bangHead: . More practice stripping it will be needed ;) .

All in all, a very nice pistol. Money well spent in my books. Now I just need a holster for it (no cool leather ones at Marstar :( ).

Just thought I'd throw in another tidbit.

The stock mag release button sucks. There, I said it. It sucks.
Its small, sharp and a PITA to properly work. You have to be 110% on top of it, pushing just right, to get it to release. I hope TSE gets some accessories in, 'cause that's the first on my list.

Congradulations!

Pop the trigger guard right out and sit it on the frame and it'll give you no problems, for reassembly I just lay the slide back in so it catches and smack the top it with the palm of my hand and *snap* its back together.

Interesting that you say that the SA trigger has a lot of travel, the one on my Patrol is about 1/3 shorter than a 1911.

Nice work with the mags, I can't squeeze more than 9 in any of mine even after 1800 rds thus far.

870P, I had the same problem with my mags. They usually would only take 8 rounds. I found that the rounds were a bit too long (147gr) so I just seated them deeper and now I get 10 in no problem. They seem to suffer from the same problem CZ mags do and need the rounds a little on the short side.

Auggie D.

Well, practice makes ......... me better :p :) . Still have to mutter the odd swear on disassembly, but I'm getting better!!

My 1911 has a seriously reworked trigger. I just wasn't used to having that much travel. If I completely let off the trigger between shots, then its really noticeable. By just letting off until it resets, then there's almost no travel.

I'll post some pics for those who wanted them later.

How accurate is accurate? I am thinking about one of these. Do you have any 25 Yd. groups to report? I have a CZ classic that I am about ready to give up on for innacurate.

Well, I just received a K100 Target from a fellow Gunnutz this weekend. After all these years this my first wondernine, my other 9mm is the venerable Browning Hi-Power. This seems to be a quality made piece, and yep, watching the rotary barrel unlock from the slide is cool. Love that fiber optic front sight. Time to load a batch of 9mm's.

I was was having some trouble getting mine put pack together after i disassembled it. I even started to worry but now that I've done if a few times it's a snap.

10th round is a ##### to squeeze in but it seems to be getting better (or maybe im just getting used to it).

There is a bit of travel in the SA pull but the reset seems pretty short so once you get used to it you can fire pretty fast. The break is crisp IMO.

DA is smooth all the way back and seems to be getting a bit light (or I'm just getting used to it :p)

Yes, the rotating barrel amazes me :D

Inserting a fresh mag is neat. If you slide the mag in hard enough you can close the slide automatically. (it's a design feature btw before you say my gun is broken :p)

I like the fact that it's full ambi so that I can work the mag release and slide release with my index finger.

As for holsters, I emailed GrandPower and I was told they will fit Glock 20/21 holsters. (Before you go out and buy one please make sure you can return the holster since I haven't tried this myself).

So far the gun seems boringly reliable. The only stuff it didn't digest was CCI Blzer 115gr round nose in my case. Has anyone else had trouble with this ammo?

Edit:

Once I hang out with a bud of mine (he has a snazzy SLR) I will take lots of pictures.

The lack of a de-cocking safety was weird at first but I learned to do it relatively easily and now it doesn't bother me.

Echo, your problems taking the k100 apart made me laugh. I had the same problem and thought I had a defective model. Turns out I did, but for a different reason. Once you get the hang of it, it's very easy. Hook the trigger guard on the frame by pushing it forward just enough to catch. Then you should have no problems.

My mags all work fine, but with a couple the 10th round would make the mag rattle. I took the mags apart and swapped the parts, which eliminated the problem.

I haven't encountered any problems with the mag release and find that I prefer to eject the mag with my finger rather than my thumb. In doing so, you don't have to shift your grip.

My only gripe is the safety.

Enjoy your new gun.

Yeah, that's an understatement, it's a bear to keep the recoil spring under full compression and fit the frame back into its recess in the slide; my small vice with plastic covered jaws holding the slide made this A LOT easier.

This my only criticisim of this gun; a DA/SA pistol with a conventional SA sear lock safety which is NOT a decocker. With a chambered round, to put this piece in to DA ready mode you have to pull the trigger while manualy controling the hammer down to its rest position...........not so fu##ing good by contemporary DA safety technology!

I do like everything else about this piece, especially the rotary lock-up, and the fiber optic front sight. I will have functional commentary after its first range duty this weekend.
