finally got my shotty built and put back together my old wingmaster with the parts from my express. my question is: If my wingmaster was chambered for 2 3/4 with a 30in barrel am I ok to shoot 3in out of it when I put my express 26in barrel on that is chambered for 3in.(does the reciever have anything to do with it?) here are som pics of the two. the wingmaster looks like a bit of a mutt eh? let me know what you guys think, thanks

A 2 3/4 in. 870 receiver with a 3 in. barrel will feed and fire a 3 in. shotshell, but it will jam up when you come to eject the empty case. The ejector in a 2 3/4in receiver needs to be replaced with a 3 in ejector to work with 3 in. shells.
 
They are riveted in - get a 'smith to do it unless you know what you are doing. Brownells sells a tool kit otherwise I'm guessing your looking at $100 for the job.
 
My Mossberg is chambered in 3", but I tend to find I shoot 2 3/4" more. Unless your waterfowl hunting, I'd just stick with 2 3/4"
