Finally got my two K98's to where I want them!

The way I see it if I bring them in lot's of people would say what about ammo. I need to figure out if someone sells the ammo and then look into bringing those. What in your opinion is the demand for those. I don't want to bring it and then have those stuck in the warehouse.
Any feedback from all of you appreciated.

I brought mine from SIR two years ago for 299$,I suposse that depending on condition people will pay between 350-550$

You would have to bring in reasonably nice ones without dogged-out stocks and without ugly blued-over pitting. Preferably also, you would bring in only examples where the Nazi markings were not peened out and that are not stamped with a big X on the receiver. Finally, weed out the ones that were belt-sanded to death on the buttstock to make room for a serial number re-stamp. Many were just stamped with no belt sander treatment - these are far preferable.

Yes, RC's fitting this description abound in Russia/Ukraine. P&S sold many just like this a couple years back.

There are also LOTS of peend, X-stamped guns and ones with beat stocks. You would have to do some sorting since these lower tiered rifles are good only as a cheap beater/blaster/parts srource.

IF you could find some that are not RC overhauled at all, they would bring a huge premium.

Finally, if you do all the above, they will not sell quickly unless they are in the $350-400 price range max, unless they are something special like a S/42G or BSW or SS marked receiver. This is the price point P&S was at when they had nicer examples.

If you can get such guns and sell in that range, they will move reasonably quickly - much like the SKS rifles. If not, you will be sitting on a lot of slow inventory after the first 20-30 buyers take the cream of the litter and you're left with overpriced, uninteresting, poorly done refurbs.

Thank you for feedback.
Claven2 you seemed to know a lot about those. What you told me about those rifles is unkown to me. All I know is a number of how many available for sale. Then I fly in and choose what is preferred by you guys. You can PM me for more info.
As to price it is always a hot topic in Canada as to Russia I can not tell them how much I can pay for those, If I don't buy those USA will grab whatever available. I have to go backward 400 or 550- cost of shipping - cost of insurance - cost transportation- guards for a two weeks or more while in transit to the port - cost of flying there - cost of rifle (definitely not $35 dollars) - interest rate at the bank = opportunity cost and profit.
So if it is not profitable for me I will not bring it. It is better for me to buy it and sell it to USA dealers they will pay at the spot for those and good money. This is said not to be mean or anything just to explain to everyone why most of those go to USA. People willing to pay for those rifles good money.
Last question is what is the market value for lowest grade and highest grade? For me to calculate if it is worth it.
Thank you for every answer.

Well, for the beat up heavily refurbed ones, you would not be able to move them for anything more than about $275-295 each at best. If you can get the ones that are not heavily belt sanded on the buttstock, do not have peened out swastikas and do not have an excess of pitting under the Russian re-blue job, and preferably without the big "X" stamp on the receiver ring, those will sell for around $450 each.

Down in the states, they sell for a lot cheaper than that. The Americans were selling these as cheap as $149 at some dealers when they were available and at most they were like $290. I doubt you would do better financially down there, best bet would be to buy as many as you can, as cheaply as you can, and send the best examples to Canada where guys will pay premium for the nicer rifles in smaller numbers and send the bulk to the US.

That's what Marstar's marketing strategy usually seems to be. A great example were the Yugo guns. Typically, the best ones sold here at premium prices ($350+) while the majority went south and sold as cheaply as $99 for an issued (used) M48 Mauser from some dealers.

Cleven2 my only problem is that those are not that easily available. Dealers in states can not get those and dealers in Canada seems to miss their mark. People overseas either don't have those or asking to much.
As to states I have dealers lined up and asking for those. Willing to pay 300-350 (only because they know I bring quality product) and they are willing to pay for shipping from Russia. I don't know how but they are telling me that they sell them for 550 easily if in good shape and they have waiting list.

Prices in USA range from 250-1500

Do you know where I can read up about K98. Is there sticky made?
