I'm looking forward your guys range reports for different Socom, I still can't decide which socom should I buy, socom 16 or socom II with extend rail system. ...thank you.
Hi Mate.
Bought a Spingfield Inc SOCOM 2 a week ago ...(Cant get new Norcs down here) and stripped her down and gave it a real good scrub and fresh grease before heading to the range. Checked out all the parts and found most are by Springfield Inc.

( will swap out the bolts innards in due course, tighten the rear sight, shim the GC and replace the spring guide with a Rooster.)
It seems the stripper clip guide is not quite in spec and will need to be opened up a touch to accept clips when mag loading. This thing is TIGHT!
The trigger pull was a very crisp two stage with-out any creep what so ever...nice.
I would say it broke at about 5lbs but didn't have a scale to check for sure.
The Viltor Rail System is held in place using a saddle over the op rod guide and is fastened at the receiver with two bolts with the same head size as the gas lock nut.
I found the rifle quite handy and easy to manoeuvre but am going to take the rail off and replace it with a standard hand guard, just to keep things simple and sleek.(wanted a SOCOM 16 but couldn’t get one)
Test fired the rifle over the week-end and put through 100 rounds of SA ball will out a hitch. Didn’t find the muzzle blast from the 16.5” barrel a problem and the rifle was easy to keep on target. After sorting out the windage and point of impact at 100 meters..(7 come-ups ) I shot a group or two to see what these rather old eyes, the rifle and the very THICK tritium sights would do.
As I had left my bean bag at home I used a cardboard banana box as an improvised rest and went at it.
It wasn't the best situation but of the two 5 rnd groups I shot, the worst went 3 1/4" with the other looking good with the first 3 shots punching in to a neat 1 inch triangle. I blew it with the last 2 taking the centre to centre group size out to 3 inches even.
At this early stage I think the rifle has room for some tweaking but I like it alot and am sure it will be a great little rifle in the bush or for delivering centre of mass hits out to 250 mtrs.
Anyway,I hope this quick run down helps with your decision..
