Well what an awful season it started out to be...
Back in Saskatchewan, in the early days of fall anticipation, I was busy co ordinating a hunting trip up to Greenwater for Elk and Black bear. The complete lack of summer we had should have been my first clue to expect the unexpected. When the long planned and awaited weekend arrived, too came with it mid to high 20 C weather,..
For many, this would not stop them, but I would far prefer minus 25 to plus 25 any day. The weather, combined with a few heads up from the area we were going to hunt, caused us to decide to cancel. SV772 and me did manage to get in one day of waterfowl, and good time was had,... he's a good fella, and he don't like badgers

Mid to late September saw me with my house on the market and all the associated fun
jerkit
with moving to another province...
October came and went with house hunting trips to Grande prairie and Dawson Creek,..anniversary in vegas,..packing,...showing the house... mortgage stuff, etc etc etc... I didn't get out hunting once.
October 31st saw me pulling out of Regina in the GMC Sierra with my dog beside me; wife and little one already 2 days ahead and setting up house back in Grande Prairie.
A hundered hiccups, #### ups, and screwups later (lawyers, realtors, money and bull####) I was having my first beer in the new house on November 3rd.
I made a few quick stops around town to say hi to some old buddies, hit the tackle shack for a chat with Ron and then up to Bartons
jerkit
to have a chat with a buddy who works there from Hythe.
So it's now Friday November 6th,...the week has been hell,...I'm unpacking boxes,...we're up to our eyes.... the phone rings...
"Get yer #### together, we're headin' out at 6 tomorrow morning" says a voice on the phone.
This is my ol' buddy Jody who has cohersed another ol buddy from Valleyview to head out for deer in the morning.
I quickly tell him how much work I got left, and that it's 10 at night and i don't have a tag...
10:05 I'm at Fas Gas getting my tags,...
We roll out Saturday morning.
It was a nice day,...snow was too crisp, but oh well...
We passed on a few animals, one rather large Mulie buck in particular,..
It was a great day...
Some things that were undeniably evident...
Coyote numbers are way up... (I saw 7)
Wolf numbers are up (track and sign everywhere, including a few howls at dusk)
Mulie bucks,...no idea where they went, but the numbers are down,
The day ended with being harrassed by CO's and a few yarns driving back...
