Finally got the buck I've been looking for- Alberta WT

Congrats on the beauty deer and thank you for taking the time to compose such a great retelling of your hunt - well done all around.
Cheers,

Is it me or does it look like the bullet went in backward???

The bullet is a solid copper HP that is designed to open up into peeled-back petals, which are engineered to break off. This is supposed to maximize the fragmentation and damage, while leaving the rear shank intact to penetrate deeply. I'd say it accomplished the objective, since it penetrated roughly 29-30", and the buck dropped like a sack of hammers at the shot. I'll know what kind of meat destruction I'm looking at when I pull the hide of to butcher him up.

Seems like the mushrooming and breaking off of the petals did the job okay, wouldn't you agree? Or would a lead/copper bullet have killed that buck quicker? ;)

Thanks, guys! My policy in the past has been to only shoot WT bucks that were better than my previous best, but since I'll likely never shoot a bigger buck than this, I may have to start settling for any decent, mature deer :)
