Finally got to play with my first SKS

Doesn't it seem kind of wrong when a person says "I got to play with..." some particular firearm? Playing with something is like toys and I don't think a firearm is toy.

Not me, that's my buddy, but I wouldn't be surprised if I were just as sloppy. I have however learned that I can't hit sweet #### with those sights. Need a bit more practice.

They are not target sights that's for sure. The cheapest way to fix that is to use a thinner front sight post.

To combat the flinch, remind yourself that this is not a .300WM with a chance of scope bite. Hold 'er tight and let 'er buck.

Used to be a store in Calgary called Toys for Big Boys. Bought many guns there . It sort of changed into Proline. By the way all this talk of slam fires and such is making me scared to test fire mine.

Chill out, thousands of people call it their toy, and we all know its not a toy. Thanks for pointing out the obvious duhh

I've had SKS's (later years - earlier one's have the spring in the firing pin) with casmoline gunked up in the firing pin that have slam fired before. Nothing to worry about when trying her out. Keep your rifle pointed down range, load her up and see what happens. If she slam fires, take her home, strip her (and she'll be dirty!) and clean the hell out of her. Take her out again, see what happens...

Yeah, God forbid anyone should actually have any fun shooting a firearm.

You wait and see whats gonna happen now they seen what that pointy thing on the end is for.
The next load of SKS will be neutered after that display of bloodlust.
Got to own up to running a few targets thru myself, really is quite pleasing :)

Hey I got a question for you, sorry for hi-jacking your thread OP. There is a couple of SVT-40's at near by gun shop and I was thinking about picking one up. First, as I usually do, is look at reviews on youtube before buying just about any gun. Every review showed the SVT-40 has terrible accuracy. Like 6" at 100 meters bad. It may just be the shooters in the videos are terrible, or it really could be the gun is inherently inaccurate. What I want to know is, what is the best group you ever got with any of your SVT-40s? What is the average group you achieve with them? and finally, What is the worst groups you've ever gotten out of any of your SVT-40s. Thanks in advance.

I have just bought an SVT 40 rifle. The best group I got was 3 1/2" four shot group at 100 which for me is fantastic. I wanted to see what it could do before I ordered a scope for it, it is definitely getting a scope.
