Finally happened to me. .. trail cam stolen

Checked a mineral station on an out of town farm I hunt yesterday. 1/2 mile off of the road. Middle of nowhere rurl concession. .. and my trail cam is MIA! Literally stood there dumbfounded and pissed off. Have been hunting the farm for several years and get along with the landowner . Such a bad feeling knowing that my 'secret spot' isn't so secret.... sigh....
 
It sucks, there's no other way to describe it when you are the victim of theft.

While I lock my trail cams to the trees on the property we hunt near Spencerville, I know that a simple pair of wire cutters & a dishonest person, would mean they are gone gone gone.

In years past, I have walked into my spot & discovered my two tree stands 'missing'... I resorted to hiding the stand near the tree & putting it in place each time I hunted the spot. Talk about a pain in the butt & while I tried to be quiet, I am sure it disturbed the area more than if I was able to just sneak in & sit...

I'll never understand why folks steal stuff. I guess their reputation is only worth a couple bucks? The value of a stand, a trail cam? Ugh

Both my ladder stand and camera were stolen off one property.

Another property the clip broke off the cam in the cold. I could only put the cable around the cam but you could access the sd card and betteries. Lol I have guys on the cam checking it and changing the batteries. At least they didn't take it.
 
Where I hunt small game and coyotes I come across trail cams and deer set ups once I know - I avoid the area in order for them to have a successful hunt - I do not hunt on the property the week before or during the open season for deer in Nov and Dec. Never had any inclination to take anything I even pick up my spent shells / casings not to liter.

hope Karma catches us to that SOB that took your cam
 
Could be someone taking a dump or burying a dead body and just as they were finishing up they look up to see a trail cam. They don't have the time to remove the memory chip or don't know how to and out of shear panic, they unwittingly grab the entire camera! Just a camera. Hope you have good hunts this year bud.
 
Had one stolen last week from bear bait, first time ever. I've gotten a couple of hints from people where it's a frequent occurrence;
-if you have a broken one, hang it in an obvious location at same place so the good one takes pics of thief stealing broken one
-get cellular one that sends pics to phone
-hang note by camera saying there are two cameras at location and a picture has been taken.

My camera cost me $350 with the metal case. It's not "just" a camera. I have no sympathy for theft and I despise the attitude of somehow excusing the actions of those who commit it. Pathetic.
 
The only camera I had stolen from me I found 60yds away. Ripped off of the tree and chewed up by a bear.
Interesting dental pictures though.

a farmer I know showed me the pictures of his getting chewed up. it still works although its probably not water proof anymore.

I hate thieves.
 
This is why I buy the two packs of trail cams when they go on sale, when it breaks down to $50-75 a camera if one goes I won't be to pissed off. Batteries and sd cards aren't that expensive either, I can live with the risk. I always lock and wire the camera up good, so people will have to put some effort in to steal it.

A bear got mine too. I found it about 75 yards away. Interesting video on the card, The camera itself was destroyed.
 
After 10 or more years without any problems, I had a card removed but he left the cam. Guess I have thieves with etiquette in my area. Guessing he didn't want his picture taken walking in to check on his plants. Probably didn't like the fact that the landowner already pulled them out. Little does he know that I already had a pic of him and his dog when they went in to plant them. Small town, showed pic to a few people but no one knew him. Its just an old camera I leave on that property for this reason but if anything else disappears his pic will be posted everywhere.
