Hey guys!

Well, This morning is a great morning! I finally got the semi-auto of my dreams. The H&K SL-8! A member here, an awesome guy I might add, sold me his SL8 for a very fair price. And he kept it in PRISTINE condition! Heck, it looks like its brand new, off the rack! And, it came with the SL8 bi-pod.!

the only thing is it only came with one 5 round mag. Does anyone know if the G36 mags that IRUNGUNS will fit in my SL8? The guy at IRUN guns states that there are two little metal tabls in the magwell that guys grind off, and they will fit. But I don't see these little tabs. Im wondering if they will fit with no mods at all?

Man, this is one sweet rifle. I picked up a box of 69 gn SMK last week, I'll be using these to try and develop a load for this thing, as ive read it likes 70 gn bullets.....

Ill post some pics this evening if I have time!

A big "Thank You" goes out to Charles, who helped make this a reality, along with a small stack of loot... ;-)

Ginnz! - Finally, the SL-8 that I have had in my Sig. for 8 months! LOL

Spear mags from wolverine are drop in, the G36 P mags irunguns have require modification to work in the SL8 but I would rather modify a 30 dollar mag that the rifle any day

Congrats,
The first one I owned years ago liked 75gr but the one I have now seems to like them a little lighter. Every barrel is different but the 69 are a good place to start and should be fine.

The G36 mags can be made to work so go ahead if the price is right but if you don't want to have to modify anything then as Brian said look for the Spear mags. I have 3 of them and they work perfectly.

Here's mine with Gen 2 HERA lower and ACR stock

I've got the AR magwell as well as the stock HK magwell and have been thinking of replacing the Elcan Specter DR with something that has a little more magnification.

Enjoyed mine, extremly accurate with 69gns and higher. Had the AR magwell on mine because I had quite a few LAR mags but the HK bolt sure liked to rub the back of the mag. No doubt you will have alot fun with that rifle.

My choice would have been the Bushmaster ACR non restricted, but SL-8 comes close in second. Congrats post some pics.
The bushmaster is nice and I will be buying one when the NR versions come out, to have one converted puts the price way to high for what you get IMO and decent resale value goes out the window once Bushmaster rolls out the NR version this spring.

They're bringing up the NR version this spring, I was just about to go buy a restricted version and then get the barrel from Gravel.

I guess ill wait thanks for the heads up.

I am on the west coast and that is the information contained in an email my gun shop got directly from bushmaster maybe 2 weeks ago.

God dammit i should have never moved from BC to Ontario after the Olympics.

Im all excited for the bushmaster ACR gonna see if i can pre order from questar.

I'm also waiting for the NR ACR to become available, am going to get a NR 300 blackout barrel made for it as well.
It won't be as accurate as the HK but it will be lighter and better suited for running around in the bush.

Local shop told me they were told we should start seeing them 3rd quarter this year.

300BLK barrel would be nice. Or at least a 7.62x39.

Also we are in the 4th quarter.... damn lying bushmaster

Email stated the 6.8 and 300blk would be the first released after the NR this spring, then 7.62x39 and 450 bushmaster is at least 2 years away.

This all hinges on the american market staying stable though, so if panic buying starts you can expect even longer waits as american orders will be a priority

Ummmmmmmmmmmm....................

Back on topic?

You're gonna love your HK, brother. If I get a chance I'll post up pics of mine tomorrow. Deadly accurate with an awesome fit and finish.

Enjoy it!!!!!!

Paul

Yup, back on track.

You'll be thrilled with it.

I'm very happy with mine. Accuracy is about 1-1.5 MOA at 100 yards with commercial target ammo, and a 1-4 X scope . I can't wait to dig my reloading stuff out and work up some accuracy loads.

It will be my go to coyote gun this winter.

Sorry, 3rd quarter 2014. The US frenzy has put them way behind and they are supposedly just starting to get caught up. We aren't very high on the priority list so we will be the last to see them.

I will never run corrosive ammo through a $3000 rifle. If you run non corrosive there aren't enough savings to make it worth it. The 300BLK is much more versatile than the x39 as well. I run 110gr-208gr through my AR and all function perfectly.

If only the SL8 was easy to swap barrels on, I would get a 300BLK and a lighter profile 223 built for it.
For accuracy mine is getting just a hair over 1 inch at 100yds with my handloads using 60gr Nosler Varmint over Varget (first batch I've tested through it) and can do almost as well with 50gr Silvertips and 55gr V-max. I'm trying CFE223 powder next and have built my test batch, as soon as it warms up I'll be out doing more ladder testing.
I think it will do better with more magnification so I've been shopping for a new scope but can't decide which one I want. Been thinking about the Sightron 1-7 or another Nightforce.
