I finally got my forward scout mount from SA and my IER Burris 2.75X scope. Mounted it and dying to take it to the range soon. I have an IPSC 3 gun in four weeks. I will use this rifle with strip clips only during the match. Come October, it will accompany me in the bush for some deer and hopefully moose. BTW, every thing is Norinco original except for the scope and mount. Thanks to Hungry, I bought his vid and got myself some shims from Mysticpalyer, shimed and peened the barrel. Now with the scope, some handloads, and this tight barrel, I think I will be able to truly guage the accuracy of this rifle. Finally got my one centerfire gun for everything the way I want it!! Pics included.

Just a little advice, you may end up moving your scope a bit forward.
Should be no problem with the rings as is. You will know for sure after you fire your first few rounds.
Empties may ding up you scope eyepiece.

Nice firearm by the way......

Thanks for the compliments. The M14 is just a great rifle and dressing it up with any configuration just makes it look even better.

Meruryv8, that attachment to my rear sight is my home made NM hood. It's a .40 and .30 mauser brass stuck together. It works very well. If anyone wants to know how I made it, I'll post it as a new thread.

Brutus, you are right. I might need to move it forward at the range if it hits. That is one of the reasons I put the Butler Creek Blizzard covers. They are optical grade and should give my lenses some level of protection from the weather and flying brass, plus I could do a quick sight acquisition without flipping up the covers.

I just got one of those mounts (not sure what brand) in the EE with a usgi stock and an extra handguard. How in the heck do I mount it? I need screws for it too, any advice?

I

Let's see a picture of your mount just to confirm if it's an SA. It is fairly simple to mount. Screws would be good. You will need to find what kind of scope you want to mount on your mount. If it's a cross hair reticle type like the Burris and Leupold scouts scopes or a Red Dot. The position of the scope on the rifle barrel needs to be figured out before you commit yourself to the mount.

I actually have no problem with the wood. I'm pretty pragmatic on this. If it works don't change it. I don't think the rifle will know the difference anyways. I like beat up old rifles and this one will be the perfect candidate.
