FINALLY! M&p9 Aftermarket Magazine Bases

Hey Jay I just checked your pictures you sent me then checked my M&P. I don't think you have the inserts for the box correctly aligned. In order to make the M&P fit in the box you would have to remove the bottom of the mag not just .025" I think.

Note the long insert is at the bottom then the slightly shorter insert is placed inside the box on the right side.
Here is a picture of the M&P inserted in the box with the lid closed WITHOUT a mag. note the bottom of the grip is virtually touching the bottom of the box. Place the to inserts into the box as described above and see if your gun fits the box with the your modified mag inserted.



I was hoping you were spot on but I don't think your gun will fit. I know I have not heard of anyone shooting the FS M&P in CCP Division and I would have expected your idea would have shown up by now. Back to soending a Grand for another shooter. LOL

I have them right Bob, i emailed you pics with the 7 3/4”x5 /38” opening(tape measure included) showing it. Its the box from idpa. Its +1/16” big, i dont have my pistol on a angle tho.the front and rear sight touch the plexiglass. Beaver tail or handle hasent been shaved down. Its a older frame 10+yrs, and is a m&p40. Out of spec frame? The barrel is legal length.

Jay I hate to beat on a dead horse but your picture shows the gun not fitting in the box. The tip of your mag is wedged under the insert. The insert must sit flat to the insert on the bottom. I read the posts and there is nothing there. Some guy read? Another guy heard?

With a wooden box there was to much give in the wood for accurate measurements. With the new box there is no give and the M&P is simply to big. You might try cutting off the tip of the mag to see if that will work. When I placed the gun in the box without the mag it fit but there didn't appear to me to be anyway the mag base could be shaved down enough and still work. I wish you luck I will delay carving off a grand for now.

If in doubt email your AC and have him make a ruling.

Just to follow up Jay's excellent work. I had four of my mags for my M&P FS .40cal sanded down and I know have a gun for CCP Division. Going to post Jay's mod on the IDPA Forum in the US. We will see how long it takes HQ to react. Why we have so many Divisions is beyond me.
