Well, it was a bit of a strange fall here, with extremely dry conditions prevailing till about 1½ weeks ago. I had spent several days in the woods without even seeing a moose, let alone finding a legal animal. This weekend was definitely different, with several animals showing themselves, including an immature Bull that made the mistake of stopping to take a look when the hunter was ready. Our party actually took 2 animals on the weekend, one a big bull on LEH. The big bull was not overly fat, but had absolutely no residual "rut" smell and was in generally great shape. Little guy was fat as a pig and looks about as good as it gets. Sorry no pics, camera seemed dead when we tried. Small animal shot at 140 yards, Big bull at 370. [Practice pays] Regards, Eagleye.

I already mentioned the reason for no pics, but may be able to scratch up a couple of the big Bull if the camera actually did take them. We will know once to film [old technology] get developed. Moose was taken with a Vanguard in 300 WSM, 180 Partitions, 67 grains of Norma MRP. MV 3035 fps. This rifle is sighted 3.2" high at 100, so still no need for holdover on a moose at 370.
