So, this hasn't been a hard project by any means, just a time consuming one waiting on all the bits to arrive at my door.
I started with the idea of building up a B&G shotgun on a Mossberg 500 Persuader, dump a new stock on it, along with a set of ghost ring sights and be set. However, when I came along a Remington 870 Wingmaster for 80 bucks at my favorite local firearms establishment, how could I pass that up.
It started off as a 26" Vent Ribbed fixed modified barrel in plain old Wingmaster furniture. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of it in it's original configuration. A quick trip to the saw and milling machine to abbreviate the barrel a touch [down to 20 3/4"] and a set of friction-fit truglo rifle-type sights were the first thing to get done to it.
First Step
From there it was a search to find what particular stock and forend options I wanted to go with. I got on the wire to ATI and they were kind enough to sell me directly thier el cheapo standard forend, along with a shell carrier and a magazine extension clamp. As soon as it came in the mail, after only a week, the forend went on the iron:
Second Step
They day before, I had decided an an ATI pistol grip, full stock unit. I was contemplating putting an M4 type collapsible on it, but decided against it. A call to Marstar for that and a magazine extension kit was soon made. It got tied up in the shipping department, but I finally got it on Tuesday, and on the piece it went.
Third and Final? Step
So there it is, all piece together in it's matte and glossy black goodness. I figure I didn't do too bad considering I built it for about $100 less than the Mossberg 500 Persuader alone would have cost me. I'm still debating on what I'm going to do for a sling, and I'm still contemplating sidesaddle options. I still may paint all the furniture Olive Drab in order to make it a true Black and Green scattergun.
