Finally my first 338 lapua rig !!!!! Range report and pictures of targets Page 2!!!!!

I'm going to need thicker targets, this fall. Maybe smaller ones for 338 only.
Savage is producing some fine shooting rifles.
Nice shooting too!
6.5 against a 338, umm don't take the higher bet!!

Just put two targets back to back and that will make them thick enough. And your went suppose to tell him that the 338 will do better lol. He should take the higher bet.

Very nice rifle Bobjoe! I've been eyeing up the Savage 110fcp HS in .338LM for a while now and with the initial groups you posted I think it may have pushed me over the edge. Once I get my R700 all tuned up this season I'll be on the look out for one.

Nice rifle, good shooting, great thread. Thanks for posting, as I'm getting closer to a .338 every day and threads like this definitely help in the decision making process.

Nice rig!
I look forward to shooting in the fall shoot again!

I will see if I can get my cast .308(#311299,
's) bullets to 1000yds.
Still working on stuff. Cast, weight segregated, uniformed etc.
Just finished about 1600 bullets. Whooohooo!

This is going to be a fun shoot this year. See ya all there

It will be. I can't wait either.

Bobjoe, are you going to get a new generator this year? Lol.

Sorry for the hijack.

I was going to try and get one but I keep spending money on other things. I am going to add a bigger exhaust and I hope that makes it more quite. If the money is there before the fall I will but I need a 308 with a heavy long pipe first.

I also went out again today and shot it trying some 300 gr lapua bullets. I used retumbo and the results were not as good as the first day. Best group was 1.002". I am going to try H1000 tomorrow with the same bullet and see if it gets better.

I might end up going back to the SMK's they shoot really good. I might need to buy some 300 gr smk to try....

So I hit the range yesterday to try some smk's in 300 gr and all 4 groups shot under 1".

The best group was .35. Not as good as my first group but very good. I did try it out to 500yards and I had a 100% hit rate on a 5" steel plate. I don't know what my group was as there was other hits on the target but I am going out again today and I should shoot just as good. I hope.

Looks like the fall shoot will be interesting. Hugh you better start getting more plate together cause Jason will have my 338 lapua AI ready very shortly. I know how much you hate fixing holes in plate targets

So I went out to the range today and fired off a few more. This time I was at 500 yards.

The first group was 5 shot. If I counted my first 3 round it was a 3" group but the 5 rounds made it 5". Not bad for first time on paper at that range.

Second group of only 3 rounds (I didn't make enough) was 1.833. I will take a picture of it and post later. I don't know what that works out to in moa but I know it is good.
