With only a few days left of the bow season here I managed to get my deer. It's been a bad year for me. First I let my big buck walk as I didn't have a good shot during the rifle season only deer I had seen all week. Then during the ML season I only seen 2 deer in the last 20 min of the last day. The doe was facing me and wouldn't offer a good shot I had the x right on her chest but didn't feel like taking the shot then they caught scent of me and ran off before they would offer a good shot.
Tonight I was in my usual stand with the x bow. 20 min to Dark 2 deer come in and were completely hidden behind limbs. They were starting to catch my scent judging by the way they were acting. Then they started to leave. The only thing I could do was shoot off hand and take the next opportunity I could. I fired and hit a little high going in and acted like it was spine shot but it died in seconds. My tree stand is very high up in the air around 30 feet and the shot was around 30 yards. Maybe the angle had something to do with it. The one lung was taken out once inspecting it. I am glad this one didn't get away. I am also happy that I do practice shooting left handed as this has came in handy a few times in the past.
Its a bit small but its better than tag soup! It does have 2-3" antlers but the pic doesn't show them (cell phone)

Be proud that you waited to take the shot... you can't eat antlers.... your deer was legal and you will have some great eating out of the deal.... good for you...

I shot mine on opening day..... good on you bud for your perseverance

Can just make out the antlers.Would have been a dead deer at my place the first day of the season even.Have seen one buck in 4 years and that was a spike. Was happy to shoot a doe finally as this was my first hunting season since 2005.

Congrats! That will be some fine eating!

And... 30 feet up! YIKES! Not sure they could scent you at that height, unless you rolled all over the ground & touched everything you could before climbing into your stand!

Agreed on practising your shooting left & right handed! I had to do just that this year when the doe I harvested came in over my right shoulder. I could not turn in my seat without her hearing, so I simply switched to shoot left handed & made a 20 meter shot to harvest my venison!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. My wife & I took our deer from 16 foot ladder stands this year. First time using ladder stands & we like them! A little more confidence climbing into them over a hang on stand...
