Well, some of you guys might know I have pride in my lever gun, its a 94 BigBore .375.

Well today was the day i've been waitin for for over two years now.

went a little like this.

Decided I'd go out for a Summer arvo hunt, seeing as ill be away until march from the coming weekend.

I hunted an area im quite familiar with, but also a place that sees alot of hunting..
i walked from not far off the public road all the way in to where i know is a Wallow, my plan was to sit an wait, see what popped out.
Id stalked an stalked with bad wind, but due to the size of the gulley the wind had changed several times an as i got toward the upper end where this wallow was i noticed the wind in my favour, it was very silent..
i had the binoc's in one hand an the Lever in my other as i viewed the Wallow from a distance when for some reason something caught my eye not 50 yards infront of me in a Blackberry choked gulley..

Instantly i dropped the binocs an cocked the hammer, i settled myself an noted it was indeed a Sambar Deer..
I waited about 10 seconds until i had a nice clear shot an i let loose, an almighty big bang an the Deer dropped..... i was soooo excited i was hootin an hollarin....
200gr Winchester super X factory ammo. Williams Peep sight..

Its no monster, quite a young buck, in early velvet.. (if i had the whelen it would of walked)
Well here is a couple of photos, sorry they are self shot on timer an im upset i couldnt get great shots of the first lever kill but thats life..

Cheers, WL!
(ps- sorry if the story is all over the place.. little excited still. need a Scotch!)

Congrats! Great to hear from folks in other countries too. Like to see that others have the same interests abroad. I worked with a fellow up here that was deathly afraid of bears that was from Australia. Funny thing was I had the same reaction when he talked about the snakes and poison spiders from down there.
Great looking deer!

haha ive never heard Bonzer, well not in a long time... Im not sure its Australian... sounds more English or Scottish LOL
