Finally paying off my Vz 58!

Yeah, pretty much what everyone else said. Thoroughly clean and inspect it, grab some ammunition, and blast away (in a safe location)! Figure out what you want to do with it from there.

Got mine earlier this fall, and I've been loving it (except that the handguard pin on mine is stuck). I managed to hit fairly well using the iron sights, but alas it takes me a while to focus due to my prescription glasses. So I'm thinking about getting a low-profile mount and adding a small red dot sight.

Take it down, learn how to clean and lube it. If shooting corrosive ammo, get good at cleaning immediately as that stuff starts eating away at the barrel and gas system. The chrome lining is an extra safeguard but you must clean it afterwards.

Love my woody VZ. Too bad wood furniture is hard to find but if you can, it looks and feels fantastic with it. Of course there are the tacticool guys who just like it black, nothing wrong with that either.

I haven't seen any with wood furniture except for the beaver barf which is hideous. I like tactical just not tacticool. God I hate that term. I could do the wood furniture if it was a nicer looking wood. But I also like the original modernized state as it comes out of the box just as much. But I hear the AR style butt stock is not very great? Is it any less quality than a ati butt stock? Did you have to dial the irons in when you got yours or was it already bang on target?

Wood is around, bought some on the EE and refinished it.

Laugh2 ok, now that I've stopped laughing... what is this "beaver barf" furniture you speak of?
