I just received my new Uberti .45 El Patron. Looks awesome feels great. As soon as my LTATT arrives I will be off to the range.

As an added bonus my Dillon 550b press also arrived. I will not be bored tonight.

Nice,

Give us a range report if you can

This is my first ever handgun so my range report will probably just be "yeeeee haaaaa"
For real though: I will post again after firing but I really don't know what to look for. Planning to use this mostly for Cowboy Mounted Shooting so as long as the action is smooth and fast I will be happy.
Although I would like to do some CAS too so accuracy is important to me to a degree
I will do what I can to let you guys know how I like it.

The fit and finish are really nice. The grips are very solid and nice dark color. The overall look is bad a$$ with the case hardening. The action feels really nice and the entire thing was bathed in oil when it arrived. So much so I am considering a complete tear down cleaning. Thoughts on that?

So I was able to get to the range on Sunday morning. The weather was finally OK for being outdoors (Only -12 C)

Because it was my first time with this gun I called a buddy and we headed out.

We set up our targets and went to shooting. I shoot 75 rounds in total over a couple of hours. We both really liked how the gun shot. It is a nice size in my hand and also my buddy (who is a full 12" taller than I am) found the grip to be comfortable an the hammer to be very assessable and east to operate.
The trigger pull is very short and crisp. (we compared it to his Glock Gen 4) while the Glock pull was lighter the Uberti had a much more crisp pull. We both really liked the short pull. It makes this gun very fun to shoot. Neither of us had used this model of gun before and we took a few rounds before we got the fixed blade site figured out. We were both constantly hitting very low until we got used to the sight position. Once we were used to the sights we both shot 5 round 3" groups from 15 yards. The gun feels very accurate and consistent (the humans using the gun on the other hand......not so much) We shot a mixture of ammo but the gun preformed pretty much the same. We tried some Hornady high end stuff and the recoil was noticeable increased. When shooting Winchester 250 grn "Cowboy" Target loads the recoil was much less than i had anticipated and was not much worse than the Glock 9mm. (I don't know what ammo we were using in the Glock didn't bother to ask)

Overall I am very pleased with the gun. Looking forward to trying my handloads this weekend and putting some more rounds down range. Now that the new of the big .45 is kinda worn off i want to try to work on actually being able to hit something with it.

YeeeHaaa is my final thought on the 1873 Uberti .45 El Patron.
