Had this unit for years, bought from Dlask when he was blowing them out for $325 or whatever it was...Norinco prices, impulse buy, sat in the safe unfired for years. It seemed well made, but never really got too excited about it, take down for cleaning is pretty ridiculous and possibly the worst design in that aspect I have ever encountered.
Anyway, finally got it out, and it is a definite shooter, I was printing groups at 25m that were no bigger then my 22lr target pistol groups, very accurate pistol, it's right behind my Sig P220 9mm which was the first pistol I ever purchased and is still the most accurate 9mm I own.
Ate 115gr IMI die cut, 124gr handloads, 147gr HP handloads, and all shot great with slightly different POI of course. The 147gr were really accurate, when I cleaned it the bore was pretty much spotless, very nicely made barrels on these. It seemed to get really dirty at the chamber end, probably due to the rotating barrel design, lots of crap built up there on the breech face/extractor etc, didn't seem to impede function at all, no hiccups with any of the ammo.
I didn't notice any difference in "feeling" when shooting it due to the rotating barrel, I was shooting a Glock 22 and a compact Girsan 92 clone same time, and didn't really find it stayed on target any differently, or jumped around any worse or any better then the others.
Overall a keeper just for the accuracy, I'll never understand the crazy take down design decision, has to be a better way to disassemble a pistol then this, would be nice if they could sort that out.
I know they have not been super popular sellers here in Canada, and the owner seems to be a bit of a pain to be in business with, multiple "exclusive dealers" over the years, I don't even know who the importer is today, my Dlask S/N is under 200 and he blew these out when the relationship fell apart. STI even dropped them after selling 100k units in the US which says something.
Not sure where these should fall in the current price market, but I feel the $325 was a bit of a deal for what it is, base model like I got should probably be a $450-$499 pistol if they want to move it. M&P range kit pistols are still around in the $550 range, FN FNS are $550...and that is for an FN not a GP, poly framed IMI baby eagles are also around $550. Not really much setting these apart from well known major brands, and I don't think the labor rates in Slovakia compare to the US, the rotating barrel really makes no difference in reliability or durability, maybe a little in accuracy, but hard to say with only one example. They are fully ambi, like fully everything which is nice.
