Finally tested out my Troy M14

When I saw the Troy MCS chassis at the SHOT Show in January I had to have one. I didn't know why (and I still don't), but I knew I needed it. When I received Canada Ammo's newsletter, at 2:30am, about the wicked combo for the shorty with ammo I jumped on the deal right away. Then over the course of a few months I started buying bits and pieces to put together my dream M14. Big thanks to CTC Supplies for bringing in all the parts for my project. Awesome guys to deal with, great communication, and no BS. Every part I ordered was delivered swiftly and exactly when promised.
Here is a video of my goofy @ss putting the first few rounds through. Norc 18.5" M305, Troy MCS chassis, Vltor Enhanced Emod stock, Ergo grip, Daniel Defense swivel sling adapter, USGI 5/20 mag, and Bushnell Elite 3200 scope.

I am thoroughly pleased with the way it handles. I know some people don't like how it makes the rifle front heavy, but I don't mind it too much. I can definitely keep the muzzle steadier while shooting unsupported than with a factory stock.

All that's missing now is a custom muzzle brake. It doesn't really need it but I think it will complete the look I'm going for. :)

I really like the troy. My last one was with a medium 18.5" krieger and coast guard brake. It was the perfect weight for double tapping with control :D
I kinda miss that chassis, was one of the original versions.
 
The only downside to this setup is I find it a bit uncomfortable to shoot prone. :( Maybe I just wasn't supporting the rifle properly. I'll have to try it again with some sandbags and a better ground sheet.

I recently installed an archangel stock on my friend's M14 and it felt like it was made for prone position. Guess I'll have to build an archangel M14 for myself now. haha For the price of that stock it sure has some nice features.
 
Yeah its awesome......I have the sniper long (magpul) and the battle short (magpul again) versions.......had Dlask install a vortex and cut my barrel to 18.5.
 
Nope, five trigger pulls there. :) I was trying to keep my crosshair on target before each round. I'm sure I can unload the mag faster if I was just shooting into a pile of dirt.
 
I filled in the chassis adjacent to the pin with sound dampening material. I wanted to go test the rifle right away so it was quick and got the job done. I'll be removing the sound dampening material and filling the cavity with clear resin instead.
 
Jwan320, where did you get your troy MCS from? I'm looking to get a troy battlerail and muzzle brake for my m14.

Haven't actually weighed it on a scale, but the overall weight is only slightly heavier than a stock rifle. The major difference of course is that most of the weight is transfered forward.

Not including the rifle and optic I'm into it for about a grand. I try not to keep track of exactly how much I've spent so I don't feel as guilty. haha

When we designed the Blackfeather "RS" we made sure the M14 rifle balance changed. The result was weight savings, improved speed/pointability and balance that puts some of that weight back into your shoulder. The new HGR for Blackfeather won't change any of that.
