Finding a Savage Mk2 TR or similar

Hi, does anyone have a line on one of these:

I'd like to avoid the TRR-SR since they both would need a proper rail anyway I'd like to save a few nickles.

Or similar? I understand CZ has a 455 precision trainer type which would work too.

requirements are Bolt action, 22LR, heavy barrel (length not a big deal but I like 20+ range) and some sort of A5 style stock (synthetic is most ideal). sling and bipod mounts naturally. I'd probably take a used one if it shot well.

Cheers,

Alex

Cabelas has the TR for $600. It is a little pricey but I would agree that is the nicest rimfire that Savage makes. They messed up the SR with a barrel that is too short and threading on the end. But if you are only interested in accuracy the BV is just as good a gun, as is the thumbhole model, which is what I have. I believe all the Savage bolt actions except for the ones with peep sights, come with Weaver style bases installed. The photo of the TR shows bases installed. I see no real need for a rail unless you are going to try and shoot out to 200-300 yards. I like to keep my scope as low as possible over the barrel to reduce canting error. There are a number of Weaver bases of different thickness that fit this gun, and combined with a low, medium, or high set of rings you have a pretty unlimited adjustment range, although it does take some figuring....

Mine shoots well with good ammo. Lapua Midas does close to 1/4" at 50 meters.
