Finding mercery Tubes for P17

I don't know why it has to get so complicated.

I have a home-made recoil pad made out of a piece of the blue sleeping pad stuff sewn into some t-shirt material, sort of like a poor-man's PAST Recoil Pad Field Shield.

Then I add a slip on recoil pad to the butt of my sporterized US Model of 1917 Enfield 30-06 (sometimes referred to as a P17) and go shooting.

I bought a PASST strap on recoil pad for long bench sessions with 375 H & H, etc. Comes in handy from time to time.

For my featherweight 300 Mag. I made a recoil tube for the butt. I took a aluminum cigar tube and filled it with molten lead form my bullet caster pot. This was dropped into a cavity drilled under the butt plate and then a two inch piece of spring cut from the screen door return spring was placed between tube and butt plate As a result, the kick is spread out into two hits instead of one big hit. Worked well and cost nothing.

For hunting, it comes out.
