fine duplex crosshairs

Looking at upgrading a scope pretty soon and was wondering who has experience with Leupolds fine duplex crosshairs. The scope will be on a rifle that does mostly target shooting but will be brought out on occasion for coyotes or deer. I want to know if the fine duplex reticle is still bold enough to show up in low light conditions, such as an early morning yote out in a field.

I kow the easy answer is to go to a store and look thru one but I live a bit of a cruise away from any gun stores.

i have a few fine crosshair leupolds, and i like them for target work or even small gophers! as for low light any scope with good glass you should be able to use well unless it gets too dark to shoot anyway.
 
Good comment ajax. I have a VXII with the fine duplex and love it. I couldn't see myself getting the wide duplex.
 
For hunting I prefer the heavy duplex as it stands out very well in bush and low light. For target only the fine cross hair is good. I have a Leu 12X CPC (fine tapered cross to a small dot) and for target or groundhog in good light it's great. For hunting in anything but good light I don't like a fine duplex. Mind you I'm getting a bit old so the eyes are not what they use to be.
 
I have a fine duplex on one of my VXIII LR scopes. Great reticle for target work, also very good for varmints. I am not a huge fan of the scope in dense trees though, as it can sometimes get a bit lost in the darkness and clutter of the forest, but it is still serviceable. This is particularly true in snap shooting, of sorts - trying to get on target quickly.

As for low light conditions, as per the above post, no problem with Leupold's light transmission.
 
Good replies so far, as I said it will be mostly for targets but occasionally hunting in the wide open. The reason for my concern is my bro in law has a weaver with fine crosshairs and target dot and I can hardly see the reticle enough to shoot paper in full daylight! Also have a ard time making out the reticle on an older B&L scope with a fine crosshair. But from what I'm gathering the leupold with fine duplex should serve a good purpose for me.
 
big jon, the weaver you talk about with the fine crosshair and dot will be thinner than the fine duplex except maybe for the center of the fine duplex!
