Finger Position on a G17 Trigger

I am wondering if my problems with my Glock 17 (G17) accuracy are not caused, by the way my index finger is applying pressure to the trigger. We all know that I shoot single action 1911A1s more than any other pistol. I shoot the 1911A1s using the pad of my trigger finger. When I shot the G17, I also used the pad of my trigger finger. I am wondering if I should not be using the area closed to the distal joint. The distal joint is the joint closest to the fingertip.

I also wonder about the proper position of the finger on a Kahr K9/K40. Your help is appreciated.

Regards,

Richard :D

I use the pad as well with good results. I've found the Glock to be quite sensitive to grip pressure--if I don't concentrate on a tight grip my groups open up. I've always thought it was due its light weight, but the longer trigger pull of a Glock vs. a 1911 would also contribute.

I'm using the pad of my index finger with a 2 handed wedge grip.

I'm going to try a tighter grip after reading the last post. My groups with my G17 have be good and bad.

You should use the very tip of your finger, just like shooting a precision rifle. The same goes for Beretta 92/96, H&K USP, and Sig (To name a few). A 1911...you should use the middle part of your finger, same with double-action revolvers.

On Glocks use "aggressive/tactical" firm two hand grip (Push&Pull tech.) and with the very tip of your finger press the trigger saftey in so its flush with the trigger/and feels comfortable. After you crack the first shot off dont release trigger all the way only to start off at square one again....simply release trigger slightly until you hear/feel the "click" of the trigger resetting. Now each shot will crack off like butter.

Have fun with it.

You mean like the first joint? Some would argue for the exact opposite of that...
