Dsiwy; the stock is bedded at the rear of the receiver and at the barrel receiver junction. I use Devcon 1010 epoxy steel for this. It's a really tight fit into the stock and the trigger guard must be tapped into place with a wooden mallet.

I'm not sure about barrel floating with the SKS. The way the gas tube is fit I don't think you can really float it. Right now I'm experimenting with shims under the barrel right at the end cap to provide a tight fit and pressure, more like Garand or M14 tuners do.

If this worsens the groups I'll try the opposite tack and file down the stock were it meets the end cap until there's no contact. I also will try shims between the barrel and gas tube. I think overall, tightening up the SKS might be more productive than trying to float it.

Nice sounds like its good to go :) your right an SKS beds like a M1 or m14 and you can float it the same way. I would also sliver solder the back of the gas tube "when off the gun" then hand fit it with a file to insure it has no free play when installed.

Gun looks awesome by the way ;)

The gas tube was a file to fit item, it's pretty tight in there. The problem is as soon as you start shooting and the metal expands there goes tightness....
I've been using rubbery gasket material as shims, I'm hoping it's got enough spring in it to keep constant pressure.

The scope and mount allows the use of strippers with no problems.

Any trigger work done to it?
 
Very, very, very nice. All it needs is a handguard.

Keep us posted on how the forestock shims work out. I was thinking of doing the same thing with my Tapco stock, after I bedded with devcon.

Yep, I did do a trigger job, its still probly 5-6lbs, but is crisp and creep free.

The stock was painted with truck bedliner spray from a spray can.

And no, I don't need no steeenking handguard:D

Sounds like you have had a fun time. I agree, it looks good without the hand guard. How did you do the trigger job? Modded the sear, hammer & springs or a combo of sorts?
