I have a 1911A1 Remington Rand that I would like to refinish to its original specs for 1944. Through out the years it has had a few minor things done to it which I am replacing but my may concern is that it has been re-blued sometime in the last 70 years. I want to bring it back to its original, at at least close to original finish, except that I'm not sure whether that would be Maganese Phosphating (parkerizing) or re-bluing to 1911A1 Remy Rand specs?

Also, does anyone know who does Manganese Phosphating in the Okanagan Valley in BC?

Thanks,

spec for 44 would be parkerizing, not sure what flavor though, there's two different types...ask in the mill surp forum, there's a few guys there who can quote you chapter and verse

Vulcan Gun refinishing does the correct Parkerizing, he can also deal with pits in the metal. The guy's name is Nick - he does amazing work on Garands and Carbines too. For my money, he would be the only guy to talk to. He's in Ontario, but guys send guns to him from all over, including the US.
