I'm trying to fugure out who has one of these civil guard rifles in Canada

I know that there are at least 5 now

They have either SIG or bohler stahl barrels and are stepped heavier barrels

or the earlier ones with the lighter un stepped barrels

Only a few thousand made in 1924 - 25

So I know I have one :dancingbanana: SIG stepped barrel

Swiend has one that bubba got to

and perhaps Bittermansbro has one

and a few otherers that will be added to the list

I still have one left in stock, a Bohler-Sthall, I had at least five at one point in my former collection.

For those who don;t know, the SIGs are about twice as rare as the Bohler Stahl made guns. Anyone wanting some more detailed info can look at my writeup on these in the MKL over at www.milsurps.com

Also, I'd be pretty surprised if all the rifles which show up in this thread WEREN'T at one time registered to JP... lol.

Bittermansbro: Beautiful KLP marked SIG! I'm jealous!

Here's mine again:

Neato Claven, its neat seeing another SiG with diff shank markings. Since there are so few (and the majority of others I do see are on gunboards in the US) its nice to see some other rare Canadian-owned M24s.

That christmas tree mark is an indication that the rifle has been rechambered and the barrel set back at some time during a rearsenal. Interesting rifle!
PP.

Yeah, I diagree about the barrel being set back. In some cases, yes, it means that - but I think more accurate is that the chamber has been re-reamed for some reason or another.

I calipered my rifle's barrel knox and it's bang-on the same as all my other M91's without the x-mas tree mark.

My pet theory is that the barrel didn't index at the factory right away, so it had to have the shoulder chased and the chamber recut a few thou.

Some you see though are re-set so far back they look like Bannerman .30-06's!

Yea.....grudgingly I accept your argument about them being a collectable in an of themselves, however I still consider them still to be somewhat 'OB' (Original Bubba) Yo, yo, yo :p

Ha should of been there when I registered it with the CFC :)

the verifier insisted that it was manufactured by SIG and CFC would not reigster it as SIG manufactured.

they wanted it all spelled out. :D

took about 3min just to get the spelling correct.
