Finn M91/24 who has one

Saw two that were bubba-ed, with a pouloustatousososauosisitis (SP? :D ) marked one as well. Both were Siggies. They weren't 28/30s, so I threw 'em back, not even worth making into a crib board. That was in Hali, two, maybe three or so years back. So much cut down and butchered up wood :(

Hmm... if the metal was intact I'd have probably grabbed one of those chopped M24's. Easy to find a nothing-special sewer-bore M91 to strip for wood :)

JP was telling me not long ago that he missed 3 or 4 M24's a coupla years back that ended up going to the RCMP scrap metal pile :(

The ones in collections will grow more valuable every day, it seems. Nice M24's are already $700+ rifles at online auction in the states. Pretty incredible, really. Wonder how long it will take before ppl start exporting them there to take advantage (if they aren't already...)

On the flip side, I wouldn't mind getting another M28 or an M28/30 imported up here! Tryign to locate an M28/30 to round out my basic Finn collection is like beating my head against a wall. And while we're at it, anyone got a Tikka M91/30 to sell or trade to me?

Tikka M-91/30

Tikka M-91/30 1944. Perfect blue, perfect bore, perfect pot bellied arctic birch stock, shoots high but, hey, I didn't test it with bayonet on!
I was lucky: my friend sold it to me for $100.00. :dancingbanana:
And no, I'm not selling...:p
Looking for an M-39 with pistol grip.

PM me the info please! Though I think you must be mistaken. VKT never manufactured 91/30's, only Tikka and only in 1943 and 1944...???

Save them!

Anyway, almost any un-bubbaed Finn M-91 is collectible.
That VKT isn't any different: I'm pretty sure Claven will buy it in a heartbeat if you tell him where it is stashed away!:)
Mind you, we now have to preserve those rifles who went through more than three wars and a full century and are still in one piece.
Today, I think it goes farther than the simple desire to collect.

Nicest Finn M91/24 I ever owned, nice blond stock, perfect bluing and bore, Bohler Stalhl stepped barrel.

Still have that JP, or is it long gone? :)

PP: You're wrong about me! I'm not currently buying any more Finn M91's unless they're something truely special (like a Chatellerault or non-CB'd P-series with a nice bore, for example). I have too many already and rack space has become an issue!!! ;)

Some highlights include:
-1898 Sestroryetsk
-Unissued non-refurb 1941 Tikka Austrian Capture markings
-1942 B-Barrel, unissued with recycled 1904 Izhevsk wood
-SIG M1/24 X-mas tree

I`ve got a bubba`d M24 that I am going to restore as much as possible. The barrel was chopped and I plan to `convert`the rifle into a replica M24 carbine. Being of Finnish heritage, I wanted a battle rifle that was used by my forebears. Condition at the time was unimportant.

It was registered by the gunshop and when I got the paperwork from the CFC, they used the Civil Guard number as the serial number. Wow! How about that! There are possible several thousand rifle in the world with the same UNIQUE serial number as my rifle! What are the odds? I can`t believe the inadequacy of our firearms regulatory community!

I would post some pics, but the administrators have not granted me the privilege, yet.

You don't need admin permission to post pics. You need a photo hosting site. Try www.photobucket.com

Then link to the pics here.

I don't think there was ever an official M24 carbine. Closest things are likely:
M27rv carbine:

And the Civil guard copy of it made from cut-down M24's, but it was never an official version (less than 600 made ad-hoc):

Ok, well I added another to the fold. Here's a teaser pic. Only part missing was the front sling swivel screw. I have a replacement en-route, full pics when she's put right :) Built on a Chatellerault receiver, great bore, not counter-bored. District marked to Viipuri.
