I have a 1941 Sako Finn M39. When I bought it the seller said it had a dark bore with rounded rifling. When I looked at it it seemed like any milsurp I have ever seen. However it seems to pass the old "bullet" test with flying colors. What say you milsurp gods on this?

It appears to have minimal wear. The crown should be free of dings and gouges for best accuracy. Other than that the best test is to go to the bench and shoot it. Handloading brings out the best accuracy in most MILSURPs.

Okay so I just got back from shooting it. The wind here today is 30 gusting 50. Hung this jug in a tree at about 85 yards. She hits high but dead on. That big hole is 3 rounds together!! The rest of the missing rounds I fired are in between the handle of the jug (of course). I think I killed the poor Juniper tree :)
Also After I fired it I removed the bolt and looked down the barrel.....almost perfect rifling now. Fairly square now too ( I won't say sharp). I know for sure this rifle wasn't fired since the last time it was in grease because the firing pin was protruding .200 inch when I checked it. Good thing I did. Now its at about .080 inch and is hitting the primers perfect.

Cheers!

The green is from the tree :)

Looks like a keeper. All mine shoot a little high, I'm sure the idea was put the sight on the belt buckle, drop target.

As I only shoot Soft point hunting ammo how long will this barrel last under these conditions? 1000 rounds 10,000? I am clueless as to what damage is done/being done with lead only shooting.
