got pics? Id say anywhere from 250-350

Does it have the early nose cap or the popsicle one? Is the barrel VKT(rarer) or Tikka...so many little details to look at...but it probably doesnt really matter with the small market we have up here :)

I suspect that is a little low, but it depends on condition, etc. In my experience, these things are not exactly commonplace. From what you describe, I would say 350-450.

I love mine. Barrel is thick enough for shooting, but not too much that it is a pain to carry.

sounds like a nice rifle, being that it has the octagon reciever, and we don't know who made the reciever or the replacement barrel its a little hard to guess price.

I suspect that price will be closer to the upper end based on your description of condition and a preimum added for interesting parts / manufacturer or the reciever.

But we need pictures

I just bought a 1944 M39 and a 1933 M27 for $200 each which is very much a steal, and they were the first of their kind I had ever seen.

For the guy who isn't a Mosin collector, the price would seem unreasonable, but for the Finn Mosin afficionado $350-400 would be reasonable, again depending on overall condition and maker of the receiver.

ALL M1927's have the HEXAGON receiver, none have Octagons. Also, none ever made with round receivers.

Geez guys - you're supposed to know your Mosins before commenting on value!!!

M27

Sorry for lack of pics. Wife lent camera to neighbour. in the meantime, barrel markings are:D ,T inside triangle, 71968, f, 1933, usual SA stamp. Only mark I see on top of receiver looks like an eagle, Receiver has some surface pitting. Has cleaning rod and sling. Stock is very nice with only a few dings. When I get camera back I'll try and post couple of pics.
Thanks

Yea! Bad, BAD mosin collectors! :p

Actually you could argue it is octagonal even though it is more rounded underneath the wood line. Personally I just use 'hex' because its the common usage.

Tikka made gun. Has the F sized chamber, later converted to D chamber if memory serves (Lapin's book not in front of me!).

The receiver surface pitting is probably blued over old pitting from the gun the Finns scrapped to get the receiver to build that M27. Pretty common stuff for a Finnish made mosin.

my bad, hexagon it is,

I have been neglecting my Nagants as of late.

and 27's would of course all have hexagon recievers as the round ones were not being manufactured yet  (late 30's I think for round recievers)

but in my defence I'm an Enfield collector that has several Nagants.

I know you are Claven, I usually don't get a chance to be 'geeky' and thought maybe you were asking a trick question. :D

Even if the reciever was a tetrahedron(sp?) i'd still call it something else just to get the purists all worked up. Muahaha!

Tang

LongBranch,
Can you have a look under the wood?
Can you see any marks on the underside of the rear action tang?
Most of the time, the receiver's maker stamped his logo and the date of manufacture there.
And some pics with good close-ups would certainly be interesting.:)

Ok, here's the Tikka being discussed:

Oh, by the way - in case you guys didn;t know, my buddy Longbranch* is a pre-eminent Enfield collector. Did you also notice the 4 Rosses on the right of the rack? :)

Sadly, he moved to BC to eat granola and vote NDP/LIEberal...

Nice piece! an M-27 in that condition is something rare. How's the bore?
Did you have a look at the underside of the action tang?
Congrats for a very nice rack of Enfields.
As for the Rosses, I would be very happy to see some pics, too!
