Hello,
I have been debating with a friend about Tikkakoski and other Finnish production WWII numbers. Basically, I need to find out a few things.
1. Where did the Tikkakoski factory start thier numbering for thier barrels? I know that SAKO in 1940-1941 started at 20,000. However, did they start from that base, whatever it was, every year anew or roll over into the new year?
2. Did this numbering scheme change between years and production runs, if so, where did it start and where did it stop? I have a 1934 Tikka M-27 that's in the 80,000's! My friend has a 1942 Tikka M-91 in the 30,000's!
I am really confused as well as to how these rifles were assembled. Were the barrels made at the factory, then shipped from there, like SAKO did until 1942, or were barrels made and then sent to the AV1 or AV3 depot for assembly and mating to recievers and parts, stamped and shipped from there? I have done extensive reading but cannot find answers to these questions.
Please any help is welcome,
