Fiocchi .455 Mk. II in a Webley RIC

If the statement was , that .455MK ammo is under powered...generally, yes. BUT Fiocchi is the hottest loads you can get in that caliber. It won't blow your RIC apart right away, keep a box for defense if you want, but if you intent to shoot on a regular base, reloading is the better way. Keep your lead soft (12-15 Brinell), no hard cast bullets. And I'd recommend Unique...Trailboss takes up a large volume which you don't have in that case and your -very safe- velocities will be lower than with fffg black powder.

I used Fiocchi in my old RIC without issue. It is however nasty hot stuff that I would not recommend a lot of. Like above I would stick to reloads with Unique or Trailboss. My favorite load right now is 3.8gr of Trailboss behind a 185gr pill. Works great.

Thank you for the responses gents, I think I was getting the .455 load mixed up with the 8mm French load which is the major squib risk. Nice to know shooting a box off of the .455 won't endanger my bloodline!
I picked up a box for the brass and to try the Mk. II bullet profile.

Acccording to Fiocchi themselves it’s not safe for your revolver. My friend contacted them.
Now what is the problem with the 8mm lebel ammo? I’d like to know as I have a few boxes of it

Thanks for the info. There are quite a few reports of bullets failing to leave the muzzle with the 8mm, I've had a couple boxes with very big differences in powder charge in the same box. Some felt hot some I had to check that they made it out. My example has a fairly tight bore as they go however a quick google search of "fiocchi 8mm squib" will yield a worrying number of results.

Never owned or shot a .455 antique wheel gun but this seems like perfectly sound advice to me.

Don't beat the crap outa your gun. A cylinders worth every now and then is okay, otherwise nice light loads with soft bullets is best for your guns longevity.

it is under powered, but i would pull the bullets replace with 3g of trailboss and have a lot of fun, over 100 ronds through my webley and no problems.
