I bought a Ruger Carbine .44 mag. from this site awhile back. I picked up an inexpensive box of Fiocchi USA .44 mag. ammo to take out for a bit of shooting.
I found the rifle would not cycle and so was a manual loader not an auto-loader.

I was going to apply some lubrication thinking that might be the problem but figured I'd try a different brand of ammo first.

Winchester funtioned perfectly well. I am glad I found out as I was looking forward to shooting some deer with this rifle pretty soon.

Back to Winchester. I had one, and shot a few different brands, and some reloads through it, and it never failed to cycle. Wouldn't hurt to give it a good cleaning and retry the fiocchi. It was so long ago, I can't remember if I ever figured out how to tear one down. Someone on here will know if its easy to strip.

My 77-44 love Fiocchi 200 gr Extrema, over the chrony they run 2150 fps with very low standard deviation and spread grouping in 1.5 inch, best ammo for my Ruger but they are not cheap... JP.

The bolt action here with this good of ammo permit that, it opened up after that but still i was getting all of my bullet in the 6 inch circle at 200 metres, after caculation with the speed i chrony the load i am in the 800 pounds of energy left at 200 metres... Would never take a shot a 200 metres at a deer but would be very confident across the field at 140 metres to take it... Cheers. JP.
