Fire Forming With Unique and Scotty's?

What a waste of time!
It's a rimmed case, load it up and go hunting.Every time you fire a cartridge in it it fire forms to the chamber.

I'm surprised it went so long, before someone told him how to do it!

Edited to say I sure hope it wasn't a Model 71 he bubbahd!

I had to fireform some 7.62x51 to chamber in a French 7.5x54 rifle. I had a .30cal ammo can of mixed corroded and ugly ammo from Marstar. So I pulled the .30 Carbine bullets, tipped the same powder into the candidate case, tightly packed in the cotton batting and seated the bullet. The bullet held the pressure up. The packing kept the powder against the primer. The next job is to anneal the necks before more serious shooting.

That's a bad idea, 7.62x51 is a smaller head than 7.5x54. You should use 6.5x55. Anyway, I usually use 10gr. or Red Dot, Cream of Wheat, then a wax plug. Be careful where you point them, the wax and cereal will penetrate a paint can from ten feet!

I used cornmeal and tissue paper. Wouldn't even shred flowers at 2 feet away. Tiny amount of unique. Modified a pop bottle lid for volume so I wouldn't have to try and measure 15 or so gr. of powder 70 or so times. You could probably fire them anywhere the noise wouldn't be an issue.

I then annealed all my case necks with the blowtorch and bucket of water method as the non Weatherby brass was pinging already and my current 57 Weatherby cases were starting to get a little pingy as well.

Yes it was a model 71 HE bubbahd! A Browning though it was. I wouldn't do that to an original! If you want to see it look on levers in photo gallery. If you held it you wouldn't say bubba. I have fire formed plenty of brass using bullets. Who wants to pay premium prices on difficult to find bullets just to fire form? Sure, you can fire form 2-3 year hunting, but that's like having a naked cheer leader jumping on your bed and your not allowed to look!
