Firearm engraving

Just a general question I wonder if anyone could lend insight on. I recently had repair done on my S&W 586 under warranty for the parts and service. Originally the revolver was a special order/run which included engraving all over the frame and cylinder. Apparently despite my protest the warranty repair done included replacement of my cylinder and SW claims they were unable to repro the parts with the engraving as that was limited run, etc..etc. So I am curious if anyone has had similar issues, and/or knows of anywhere in canada that does engraving like this on firearms. I have been told that some jewellery places etc..can sometimes have the proper equipment to do this sort of work but I was hoping someone may know of a known establishment for this sort of thing specifically. I have had the cylinder returned to me as well so I do have the original part that could be used to model the engraving , not just from photos, etc.

Surprised S&W couldn't have the cylinder engraved, since they are the one that produced them initially.

Personally, I'd be a little ticked off if I paid a premium for a engraved gun, have to send it back for warranty, and have to pay another few hundred$ to get the parts engraved (again)
 
Thanks for the help. And as for being pissed off, I was plenty of that. LOL, however I am just glad it is back…and now that I do have it back, I will probably continue to pursue them for resolution to the problem of the lack of engraving…we shall see how it all turns out.
 
He moved out to a small town east a few miles, can't remember, Saw him and the wife at the last Saskatoon gun show.
I believe there is a lady west/ central Sk. that does this , but no info , But I know someone that may know.

Why not just shoot it with the replacement cylinder and if you want to display it put the engraved cylinder back on.
I am not familiar with S&W's so I don't know if it is difficult to change cylinders but at the same time if you get the new cylinder engraved you still have to get it re-blued to match the rest of the gun (assuming it isn't Stainless Steel) this may be a problem.
 
I have a photo of a colt 1911 he did for me years ago some where, he is very busy doing custom knives for some of the big name guys I think now.
All hand done , no machine work
