Firearms available now – shop before they’re all gone!

Fine in theory.

Except ####ing Cabelas is canceling orders for guns on the ban list that were placed before the ban.

They canceled my cyber Monday order of my X95 stating the CFP told them to. Such bull####.

This is no longer my Canada.
So they legally sold a gun to you, now you are the legal owner, not Cabelas.

You are the legal owner, and Cabelas "buying it back" is technically illegal. When Cabelas took your money, that was the legal contract of sale agreement (assuming you paid for it). Cabelas cannot buy a prohibited weapon. The company or person who is in possession of the rifle can ship the newly banned/prohibited rifle 1 time to the owners residence where it will be stored permanently. This is legal in the Gazette.

What you did was essentially bought a rifle legally. So Cabelas technically bought a banned/prohibited rifle back that they legally cannot buy. You can use this as an argument to try to receive your legally purchased, but now prohibited firearm. Or be happy you got refunded as it'll just sit in your safe anyways.

i figure that a lot of dealers are going to raise the prices of non banned guns in the future. i am glad that i bought a lot of my guns many years ago and do not have to pay the very high prices they are charging people. many years ago i purchased a k98 for 150$ the rifle is mint condition and staying that way.

I just ordered an (in my opinion) overpriced SKS from FOC. There was no disclaimer at checkout indicating that Canada Post is the only shipping option (they told me their system cannot accommodate the disabling of the UPS option at checkout so they put a disclaimer on the checkout page - as far as I was able to see, this is just not true ) , so i chose the UPS option for delivery at a higher fee. They then processed my order using Canada Post anyways and said it will ship when the strike is over. Apparently, this information is buried in the shipping FAQ that they use Canada Post exclusively for shipping firearms.

Now I am in a situation where the SKS I ordered might be banned before it is even received (if it makes the February list). Not very please with their service so far, as they've offered no solution to rectify the issue thus far. I will change my tune if some how a solution is brought to the table, but as it stands, I will never order from them again.

It sucks because I want to support local retailers over big box stores like Cabelas, but next time I’ll probably just go for the lowest cost option.

Cancel and buy from the other guys?

They wouldn't allow cancellation. Item was packaged and ready for pick up by Canada Post (they just happened to be on strike).

Anyhow, I got the rifle and it is in good condition, so no complaints about the firearm itself.
