Firearms Canada Scam or not?

I doubt that a CGN vs FC discussion would last long, but suffice to say all internet exchange forums involve risk. Use your head and do your homework and minimize the risk.
Sending money to someone without checking them out is God's way of saying you have too much money.

I haven't been impressed at all with FC.

Items tend to be either too good to be true (fraud), or grossly misrepresented and/or overpriced.

EE may not be perfect, but at least there's a community and reputational aspect to CGN that improves the chances of a fair deal. Of the purchases I've made, I've only been somewhat disappointed by one deal on EE.

I bought my CZ P07 off there last year no problem. Just don't send money untill the transfer is started that's all. I would have no problem starting a transfer and waiting for my money.

Scam

That site has become a haven of scammers and thieves. Buyer beware BIG TIME !!

X2. I got scammed on there, ended up getting my money back only because I spelled the scammers name wrong and I guess he couldn't cash it. I called Canada Post to cancel the money order and they made me wait 60 days to see if it would be cashed, because it hadn't I was able to order a replacement MO sent to me. Lucky. I found out after he broke contact and another guy posted that the guy was a scammer. Cops couldn't do much but start an investigation. I've seen tons of deals on there that are too good to be true. $900 Desert Eagles, $800 S&W 629 Stealth etc. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Scam?

Calling a business a scam requires some proof. There are scammers here too. If you do your homework there are some deals to be had.

I agree not everyone on there is a crook, I have bought and sold items there without a hitch. I just think there are a lot more scammers able to operate there because of the site's design. I know they made changes recently. I just don't put the faith in it that I do in the EE.

Well look like theres another scammer on FC.
''aiyey6'' (name Kelly RL) is selling a prohibited Sig P229 in the ''restricted'' section, sent a message to the seller to buy it, add says he's in Saint Zacharie Quebec, so i send him an email telling him it would be better if we meet to begin transaction and call CFC since i'm also from Quebec ;)
Surprise !! the guy said OK to meet but his address is now in Ontario!

Maybe you can report it to the admins at FC?

The site is terrible. There is no trader ratings, feedback, nothing.

If you buy a gun on there you're taking a huge leap of faith. Just a couple weeks ago a guy tried to scam one of my friends on a "WWII Inglis hi-power".

FAC claims they "ban" scammers, but it's simple enough to just make another account and log in from another location. This really means nothing to me. They don't even have a trader rating for good sellers to build reputations.

Perhaps some people have had good experiences on there, but I don't know how anyone could possibly recommend FAC considering the extremely high scam to legitimate deal ratio.

Exactly. Not worth the time, or effort to possibly be scammed.

I forgot to mention one last serious consideration about FAC!

You can potentially avoid some scams by exchanging information with the seller, HOWEVER, when you give out your PAL information you are potentially giving your personal information to a criminal! There is potentially a lot more to loose than just money when you deal with the scummy "sellers" over there.

Same goes if you are the seller on FAC. You are potentially giving info out to "buyers" who may have other motives.

I just bought a nice Colt Cobra at FAC. The first thing I asked for was a land line phone number, which I recieved. I got an address and confirmed the seller lived there. This site was the same when I first joined.
FAC is working on a trader rating system. I guess mommy can't hold your hand there. You have to do your homework. Imagine that!

I'm guessing you must have some sort of association with FAC to defend it against the countless members here who have been scammed, and the constant daily new scams posted there.

When FAC fixes all the problems, I will give it another try. Right now, their effort at security is a pretty sad attempt. Until then, I can't in good conscious suggest that anyone use that site. I'm not saying everyone there is bad, but there is a high chance of trouble, and honestly I'm surprised any member here on CGN would even try to suggest FAC.

Let's just get the good sellers on FAC to join CGN instead :D

he has associations with all sorts of questionable websites. I think he is admin at FAC, so it would be a bit less of a risk, scam wise?
