Firearms laws explained

Let me remind here how they banned the pump shotguns in UK.
The government decided to ban only the semi shotguns.
Then, the gun owners said (probably through their NRA-UK reps) that
such a decision wouldn't make any sense, explaining that
a semi auto shotgun cannot fire a lot faster than a pump shotgun.
Next day the gov banned the pump shotguns.

I'm pretty sure pump shotguns are legal in the UK(with 24in barrels and 2+1 capacity.)

Right now the capacity is 1+1, IIRC. Same for semis.
In the 90's they were banned altogether, regardless of capacity.
Only some brake action shotguns were allowed,
in possession of some farmers and such.
British royal family were tacitly exempt from these restrictions.

hum, yes, of course.

I must admit I am surprised that when showing 'bad guns' the anti tv ads and news reports, like during the C-391 campaing, always show old ass short barrel revolvers and machine guns that are obviously prohibited, and not decked out CZ 858s or Swissarms.

They surely must know, but they're too retarded to use it.

Like old timers say 'round here, not dumb enough to set the house on fire, but not smart enough to put it out.

To sit there and think "the list" doesn't already exist is ridiculous.

Do you honestly think they need to come here to this particular thread? Do you guys send angry emails to the dealers who post pictures of these guns on their websites?

This stuff isn't some big secret only us super cool gun owners know. What the hell do you think the registry is for? That's a list.

Yeah, to think the list isn't already made up, or a different set of criteria, like the bans in CA or NY which only require physical attributes, isn't already written is a bit naive. Maybe I give gun control advocates too much credit, though...

True enough, they probably already have a list... But that's still not an excuse for helping them make sure it's complete. Nothing good will come of this.

Firearms laws for Dummies (or Liberals)
#1 If it looks kickass cool it's a prohibited device (silencers, 30 round magazines, crankfire triggers and guns with a barrel shorter than a liberal's dink).

It is physically impossible to have something shorter than zero and have it be a firearms barrel.

Since it seems like, if the LPC come to power and keep their past promises, we'd be looking at a ban of all things semi-auto and/or handgun-like, worrying about a list is imagining small-time.

Actually I'm from the UK.

Here's a round up of the laws and the background.

Essentially there a two licenses in the UK; A shotgun certificate and a firearms certificate. A shotgun certificate allows the owner to purchase and keep any amount of "section 2" shotguns. Essentially these are a smooth-bore gun (not an air gun), which
has a barrel not less than 24 inches in length and a bore not exceeding 2 inches in diameter, either has no magazine, or has a non-detachable magazine incapable of holding more than two cartridges and is not a revolver gun.

So pump/semi are completely legal in 2+1.

If you want a higher magazine capacity or ammunition with 4 or less shot then you can apply for a section 1 license. Normal reasons are the like of practical shotgun.

Shotgun certificates are pretty easy to obtain; a form must be filled out and signed by a qualified referee that's well known to you. You must have a decent reason and follows up with a personal interview by a firearms licensing officer from the police. I've held one from the age of 15; although I can't purchase one until I'm 18 BUT can be transferred one from another license holder.

Scott.

I want one! Where should I buy?

After listening to various left leaning types, I truly believe there is most definitely a Gun Ban List. It has nothing to do with pictures, caliber, threads on CGN, classifications, action types, magazine capacity or anything else that might allow for any "loopholes" or misinterpretation of what they want accomplished the next go around. It's quite short actually. In fact, it consists of a single, simple word...

All

Umm

Guys!!

Your methodology of trying to show how stupid the laws is is 100% suicidal.

All your method can achieve is the Restriction and Prohibition of MORE guns!

End of story.

Please stop this method.

Easy Storm...we may have been screwed ONCE... damned if we will let that happen again. IF it ever does happen again - we shouldnt be allowed to own fireamrs for being so stupid! :ban:
