Firearms made that originally used corrosive ammo are easier to clean and take down

Disagree....you need a hammer and punch to disassemble the SKS bolt if you want to clean it out properly.
.

this is false is so many ways. you only need the threaded portion of the cleaning rod to remove this pin. push harder next time. If a peasant in the field can do it, I'm sure a middle class Canadian can do it with the same tools

i tried getting the pin out of my sks with the punch in the cleaning kit and it wouldn't budge. i had to get a large hammer and have someone hold it down and it still took a few minutes.

the retaining pin can be tapped out simply using the provided punch and the cleaning kit tube as the hammer. pushing it out is a bit far fetched, though i suppose some people's rifles may be looser so it may also be an option. But anyhow i've never encountered an SKS where you couldn't take the bolt apart with just the provided punch and tube.

Every single one I owned (4 Chinese and 3 Yugo's) needed a severe beating to get the pin out of the bolt.....never had a Russian refurb, only new guns. No way you are getting that out without a decent hammer, punch, and vice....
I don't own any anymore....novelty wore off quickly lol

What novelty is there in a sks? The sks is awesome! Haha It's a no frills rifle thats quite capable of doing whatever you want. Obviously not a tack driver but a propane tank at 300 yards could testify the sks is no joke. I've never taken the bolt apart just spray it with brake clean and the pin will free float then just oil.

Dont get me wrong, I have an xcr, but sometimes it's nice too forget about all the facncy expensive black picitinny and gucci flash surpressors and just shoot some iron and wood! And the sks always goes BANG. I'd trust it 10 times more than my xcr which is kinda sad considering how much I spent haha

But ya op in my experience shooting anything corrosive sucks to clean, just shoots so dirty and I like my rifles clean. Boiling water then about a thousand patches and it's all good again

To clean the tavor after corrosive. 1 pin. Push it out. Take bolt and gas system out. And pour hot water through the whole gun. Spray some oil in after it has dried. Dont need to pull it completely appart like others.

Guess nobody here has ever taken apart a PS90... they are the most ridiculously fast thing to take apart for cleaning.

-Pop the mag out
-Hit the big loonie sized button to remove the barrel, slide it out.
-Tilt the gun forwards, bolt slides out
-Buttpad slides up and off once bolt is out
-Flip lever and hammer group comes out.

Literally a 10-15 second job and the rifle is fully stripped from start to finish.

I would take a modern semi for cleaning 8 out of 10 times over older semi firearms, with there being a few exceptions depending on design of course...

Bolt actions I have no preference obviously.

Lets be honest, if the SKS does everything you ask of it, your demands are pretty low.

True, but sheet man it's a battle rifle, my demands are that of a battle rifle, not a competition ar15. Haha I never said I asked it to do a 1" group did I?

May I ask what you expect out of a 150$ rifle? Any and then why you are not satisfied?
