Firearms marking

What about the end user certificate ? The buyer is the end user so the Canadian long gun registry is back and there is a UN registry of our guns also . Trudeau already set the money aside in the budget .

What end user certificate? No such mention of it as per the firearms marking regulations.

Please show us what line item in the federal budget is meant to cover whatever it is your talking about.

Possibly as much as 200$ premium per firearm. When you look at entry level rim fire firearms, that's any where from a 50-100% increase in the cost of firearm. Cost is already a significant barrier to entry to the shooting sports.

One question I wonder if anyone has asked. With over 500,000 firearms getting imported annually, estimated, and say it takes 30 short minutes to mark a gun and refinish the surface, it would take nothing short of 125 full time firearms markers to mark all the firearms being imported. Cost is one thing, the delay is something else.

Now see that is absolutely unacceptable. Looking at the paperwork I'm still not sure how they plan on enforcing this. Because that seems impractical.

I guess they will mark the receiver ,,,,,,,, going to need a lot of different equipment to hold and mark different rifles ( bolt action , pump , semi auto , target rifles ect ) and pistols ( revolvers / semi auto , single shot , target pistols ect ) .

Q: Does anyone even make this type of equipment do to multiple types of rifles and handguns in a quick and and cost efferent way in Canada ???

hand punch, which is what we will likely be using if we ever do the marking

So, how do you propose to hand punch a polymer frame of a firearm with a ceracoated finish or the like?
same way you laser engrave, right through the finish. In the case of plastic, they will have a metal serial number plate, or you can stamp the plastic. Keep in mind, this would only be for the very few guns that we would import that do not have it done at the factory

Will this apply to uppers as well? Such as the .50 BMG? Or would it only apply to receivers?

So if one had a custom pistol made, if the smith engraves the numbers on prior to hard chroming is that good to go?

An inconvenience and cost that will passed onto either A) people who tattoo pictures of guns onto their bodies, or B) people who purchase firearms.

You think she is going to pay?

Can you post some photos of what that would look like?

Do you expect most guns coming from the factory would be marked to conform to the regs? Have you seen any examples of it already?

Do you have any confirmation from CBSA that factory marked guns would be acceptable as compliant?

I don't foresee having to do more than a couple guns per year, given that they will all either be marked by the importer or the manufacturer before we get them

Arent you guys the importers for some brands like norinco? If norinco refuse to do it at the factory, aren't you (if you're the importers) on the hook for all those pistols?

I just recently bought a norinco pistol, it is already marked CH 13 CA, no big deal, doesn't really affect the value of a $300 gun and certainly isn't obtrusive
