As long as you have the registration number you shouldn't have a problem that is if you don't run into a a**hole of a peace officer.

Because he's not breaking the law??
Or is it he's breaking the law and most police won't care unless he gets one that does and charges him, or as you put he runs into an #######??

According to the letter of the law, you can be asked to produce registration certificates. If certificates cannot be produced, the firearms can be held until the certificates are presented.
Is this likely to happen? I don't know.

"...this is the first time the guns have been..." If they've been transfer to you you're fine. However, tiriaq has a point too. Mind you, most cops are good guys and usually won't give you grief if you don't give them grief. They can check if you're legal or not.

I really dont see a problem with it. If you DO run into a peace officer you MIGHT and I say "might" get your firearm taken away until you can provide the actual registration certificate. But if you have the number, I think they can enter it into their computer. But I am not 100% sure on that.

It is a 50/50 thing, your SUPPOSED to always have your registration for the firearm on you when you have said firearm with you out.

If it we're me, I would just wait until your paperwork comes in, which wont be long if you said it was approved two weeks ago.

And seeing that the firearm was never registered before, that would give me more cause to just wait. You should have it some time this week I would believe.

thanks for the reply's everyone, im just going to wait till they come in, no point in risking getting my firearms taken away, hopefully i'll be able to do some target practice next weekend :)

I have the same question.
I bought 2 guns from 2 different stores.

Both gave transfer reference numbers, these are NOT the same as the reg certificate number.
both said that the receipt with the transfer reference number is the temporary registration certificate.

Is there anything written somewhere official to back this up?
