Fired my first desert eagle on the weekend and I was quite impressed. I got a I inch or less clover leaf at 30 feet and it never had a problem.

A lot of people say these things are goat semen but I thought it was a nice gun.

Might actually buy one now.

Or should I?:confused:
 
I believe the big complaint is around the total impracticality of having an enormously heavy pistol that is very easy to limpwrist (thus causing hitches).
 
Possible I guess. Dont really know much about them. Well it is a 44 magnum/50.cal so I knew it was going to be heavy. Had a few newbies with me and it was a limp wrist fest(sounds like a certain parade here in toronto)

I also shoot by relaxing my grip a bit and focusing on trigger and front sight.

Didnt need to death grip the gun at all.

As I said I was impressed, if you buy a big gun like that probably not the best thing for beginners anyhow I guess.
 
Because it is a gas system semi-auto, it softens the kick quite a bit.
A friend has one, and I used to do his reloading for him. It will roll you backwards, but I don't recall any broken wrists or dislocated shoulders.
I haven't fired any of the huge revolvers, but I suspect that they kick!

EDIT forgot to mention, he has both a 44 and a 50AE

Me shooting a .44 Desert Eagle for the first time. I LOVE IT!!!! Ya I know I anticipated the recoil and my head flinched, but hey, I'm working on it! Makes ya wanna yell out SHIZZZZZAMMMM!!!!!!!!!

Gotta say its a great gun to shoot. Fits the hands very comfortably and the sights are great. Grip is soooooo comfy!

Compared to .44 Magnum revolvers I've shot, the DE is much more manageable. I'd say a Desert Eagle is a gun I'd for sure buy, tho I'd get it in .357 Magnum. Just as much fun but cheaper on ammo.

Nailed my target smack in the middle of the head with it.

I've been thinking about getting one in .44 for a long time - when I've got the spare coin :rolleyes: I fired one years ago and found it to be quite accurate and less of a strain on the wrists than a revolver. It's not just the gas operating system that makes the recoil more managable, it's the lower profile that is more axially in line with your hand and wrist, so that there is less torque. I had been slightly concerned with the size of the grip and operating the controls, but they are actually quite well placed.
 
I used to shoot mine all the time when i got it,....now haven't pulled the trigger in a few years...............She's turning into a safe queen..YIKES
 
The recoil from the Desert Eagle is not that bad mainly because the gun weighs twice what your average gun weighs. Mine is 72 oz empty, most of my other full size guns are 35-40 oz.

The trigger pull on a stock D.E. is poor. The gun itself should be accurate though. I rarely shoot mine but I doubt I would sell it either.

Mine is in 44 magnum. I can't see why anyone would want it in 357. Much smaller guns can give you that power level. The 50 AE is also not a practical calibre unless you have got a lot of money to spend on ammo.
 
I originally bought mine in the 50AE. Then I bought the .44mag barrel and mag to save some dough on ammo. I replaced the std grip with a Hogue grip and haven't looked back - I love shooting .44mag. It really is an expensive toy though. Oh - the CFO in Ontario approved the transfer within 3 hours back in May 2006. Thats like winning the lotto! :D
