Anyone running a Williams Firesight on their SKS? Any thoughts, likes/dislikes? I'm new to SKSing, and planning to leave it stock, but my tired old eyes aren't fond of the stock iron sights..............
i have one on, and like it just fine. seems to be a little finicky in terms of being able to adjust it dead on, but then again we aren't talking about a precision firearm here.
it's bright, it works, it does what its supposed to. Good enough for me.
I like mine as well. My only complaints are: The fibre optic is too wide (in all honesty I find even the factory iron covers too much paper.) The peep sight does not allow for quick adjustment for elevation. Not much of a real problem though. I just zero it for 100yds and aim high for 200.
The best feature about it is being able to focus in on the front post much faster, however with aging eyes I foresee a problem with contrast on bright days. The firesight is best when overcast. Not so much at high sun.
Fire sight front sight was the worst thing I did to my Russian. It was too slim for the slot so I could bring it tight to the left or tight to the right but sadly no where near the middle.
It's definitely more visible than the factory sight but I only got the front post which has no adjustability. I really would have liked to be able to adjust it...
