Firing a Panzerfaust

The PIAT

Anyone who has never fired a piat has no idea what heavy recoil hurt is on a shoulder.

I did once from the front lip standing in a slit trench. Some lads refused. :p

Makes the Bazooka copyed from the German panzerwurst a ladies weapon.

I liked that thread but was disappointed nothing was fired.

It's strange nobody in Middle East decided to make direct copy of Panzerfaust. In many respects it's perfect infantry AT device and good supplement for demolition of walls, buildings and such.

Why, every second jihadist has a RPG to do that, or just stuff a culvert with a couple hundred lbs of home brewed explosive and wait till something drives over it to light it up. Or load a car/truck or donkey cart full of explosives and try to get it close in to do the job.

They might be cool firing a Panzerfaust, but they`ll never be as cool as “Sly Old Fox firing a PIAT” cool.
I`m not sure i`d ever volunteer to fire a PIAT.

This was I think up on the Meaford military area in 1952, We had a tank at about 100 yards, or a bitmore. The sight was set for thde range and that tank was like a leaky sieve, With the shaped charge i think it would oerforate evan a tank front end but not certain. From my experience in infantry training, I felt sorry for those aroured corps guys.

During our night raids, on tanks in laager, I always wanted to throw a thunder flash down an open turret to night but knew Ibould deafen all inside.

It used to be said that an army can make advances BUT when finally stopped, need infantry to hold it. Not sure if that still applies.
