hey guys I just acquired a jm stamped 45-70 lever action marlin which I have not fired yet, I noticed the rifle is drilled and tapped but one of the screws is missing, is that safe to fire? my next question is, how easy or hard would it be to find a replacement screw? are scope mount screws a universal size? or will my scope mount that I purchase come with screws?

Your scope mount will have it's own screws...Those in the receiver are just fillers to keep dirt out and protect threads. They serve no other function, Fire away!

Lots of used rifle don't come with the filler screws left in anyways, just the tapped holes...
