Sorry to hijack this thread, but how exactly was the disk to be used. This is something that I have pondered many an evening.
Looks like a post war Czech refurb. The post war manufactured stock, post war "winter trigger guard", and the VZ 24 front sight protector are all signs of a Czech rebuild done post war. The Czechs would have numbered the stock to match when they did the rebuild.
Looks like a nice K98k though and should make a great shooter.
Ok. CanadianAR pointed out to me that I missed the Gustloff semi-Kriegsmodell variation. Gustloff used a stock very similar to the the post war semi-Kriegs modell except they ARE drilled for a cleaning rod.
Originally your 1938 S/42 would have had a stock with a flat buttplate on it and nazi eagles with WaA63 stamped on the right side of the stock between the take down disc and the buttplate.Thank you for your reply. I am just getting into collecting and have lots to learn. Did the Czeck rebuilds have any special markings on the parts or stock? What markings should be on an original stock besides having the bolt disassembly disc?
