First 10/22, Bolt hold stuck?

Hey guys I just bought my first 10/22 today (new). I got it home and started checking things out, after locking the bolt back about five times the lever seems caught on something? If I pull back on the bolt and try to lock it back, the lever won't drop down and lock the bolt. It's not like jammed solid, it can move, it just doesn't drop down to the lock back position. Is there anything common that would cause this? Maybe just a rough machining mark or? Any advice?

Should I stop freaking out until I actually break the rifle down and check things out? lol

I had a similar issue with mine, turned out to be a little bit of plastic molding flash. So I got a little practice breaking down and reassembling the rifle. While I was in there I took the opportunity to modify the bolt release to allow me to just pull the bolt back a little and release to charge instead of fiddling with the release.

This of course provided much more practice disassembling and reassembling the trigger group, good learning experience lol.
