so here's the deal, so far I am working with a: 10/22 totally stock 18.5 blued barrel and action inside a troy t-22 sport chassis. My plan is to upgrade or switch out the following stuff and i'd love some opinions:

-the barrel options: this is actually keeping me up at night..
Tactical Solutions threaded X ring matte black .920 diameter 16 inch with Tactical Solutions Compensator
Dlask 10/22 fluted barrel sporter chamber .920 diameter 12.5 inch with Troy Claymore Muzzle Break 556 14.75 inch oal - i think from measuring the break would only slightly protrude from the chassis..

-the trigger:
maybe clark custom?

-sharp edge extractor:
kidd or volquartsen

-precision firing pin
kidd or volquartsen

-recoil buffer
kidd bolt buffer

-magazine release
kidd enlarged magazine release

-automatic bolt release

-Charging handle
really not sure but i want it to be big and functional

Troy Stock final plan- can't decide on an optic but, two small rail sections one on the side for a light and sling mount and the other on bottom for a vg, troy squid grips, ambi sling plate, a magpul ctr stock or some kind of bufferless collapsable wire stock http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...stock-for-10-22-chassis-and-dedicated-AR-22-s

i welcome opinions from people running either of these barrels or on any parts really..

Just wondering why youd buy a stock 10/22 and then replace all the parts? Why didnt you just buy all the aftermarket parts and build your own?

I have the tacsol barrel and its awesome! Very very light, 15oz.

Totally understand. I have my grandfathers cooey.
Dlask is great but heavy, tacsol is great but light.
As for the trigger, why not mod ot yourself?
The extracter upgrade helps. However Dlask had bolts on sale with everything you want for under $100.
So youd get a rounded, pinned, match bolt all in one.
As for the mag release, PWS IMO is very slick. You can drop a mag with a flick of a finger. I wonder if you can do that with an extended release?
I also bought the CH22 receiver. Really like the AR charging system. I had a power custom handle in my original setup. Was $50 + shipping/taxes. Really wish I didnt buy it. It was longer but heavy and cost too much IMO.
You have a great stock!
Funny how a $300 22 can turn into a $1000+ gun in a heartbeat. I sold almost all my original parts for what I paid so I luckally broke even with the original cost of the 10/22. Thats why I asked. If I had started from scratch, I might have saved $100. The upgrade buffer is one thing I got that I wish I did right away. I think it makes a big difference. Also the bolt release mod is awesome!
Just my 2¢

Another vote for pws mag release, I just put one on and it is slick. Barrel in my troy chassis is a tacsol, I walk around the gopher patch and enjoy the light weight. Its quite accurate and not picky on what ammo you feed it. If you can find one, I really enjoy the Kidd trigger kit, about 1 3/4 pull and breaks nicely. The Kidd charging handle is a nice option because it comes with 3 separate springs you can change depending on velocity of ammo you want to shoot. I can't speak much on the bolt upgrades, I changed mine out for a scalloped black kidd bolt. File the tab on your bolt release and make it auto yourself. Good luck finding the rail sections, if you do let me know!
This is how mine turned out

I have a troy with a 12.5 barrel and 2 inch muzzle device right now, its exactly 14 inches and is flush with the fore end of the stock. The claymore will get it out past the stock but not by much, which could look cool, which is what I'm going to do once I can locate a claymore, which hasn't been going too well.

The optimal barrel length for the chassis would be 14.5 inch in my opinion. If I had the money, I'd go for a sporter contour threaded and whatever muzzle device I feel like on there.

Coastal marine in St. John's NL has a Troy Claymore flash hider. ( if that's what your referring to).. Also check out the 3 1/2 inch aluminum flash hider from iron eagle tactical... They are a little thicker and looks good with the bull barrel .

thanks for the input guys and keep it coming...
Yea see i'm totally on the fence between chem's gun setup and langbang's set up atleast in terms of ascetics.. and as for the claymore i didn't actually check but there are gun stores carrying TROY if you look hard enough.
i'm also a big fan of the MKII Effin-A Compensator 556

I'm not too big on the idea of an aluminium flash hider, won't be much good if I ever want to use it on something with a little more power and heat. Just think super hot gases and abrasive burnt powder particles are going to erode aluminium pretty quick. Now, if they were made of steel, they would be perfect for what I need. Thanks for the lead on the Claymore, would be great if I was still living in St. Johns.

I have an aluminum iron eagle flash hider on my .223 , a little over a thousand rnds and no prob yet, Iron eagle lists them for sr 22 and AR 15. Also Coastal will ship it to ya Check out the very elusive black rain ordnance pine apple flash hider... Very hard to get and it looks awesome!

Questar sells a stainless steel 1022 barrel.

Found a troy claymore a few mins a ago and ordered it. I'll get a picture of it all put together once I get it, probably next Monday sometime Thringer.

cant wait to see what it looks like.. thanks for the advice
also totally dig that the thread motivated you CHEM to go get a claymore

Well I had already decided on purchasing one before this thread, just so happens that I found one back in stock at a dealers website yesterday. Had been looking everywhere for a while.

Also, I'd consider going with a sr-22 12.5 dlask if you do go with a dlask barrel. Its a nice medium contour between sporter and .920 bull barrel. Also I'd just probably run the irons on their for a while before you go out and buy some optics, the irons are pretty decent.

If you dont swap the stock on the sr22. Its a great option. However if your swapping the barrel and stock, IMO its an overpriced 10/22. Like $630+ Then add another $200 for the dlask barrel. You can see why some 10/22s go over 1K.
If your going to swap everything, you have two options IMO. Either buy a stock 10/22 and mod it and sell the leftovers or buy only the parts you need.

i will say i have put like 3000 rounds through the setup as is, and right now using just those troy battle sights that are flush with the rails it becomes very obvious where the value is.. the battlesights sights on there own cost an arm and a leg
