Hey CGN, so I've been told that if you are into pistols that you should own at least one 1911. So I picked up a cheap Norc in 45acp. So the take down is not as 'easy' as your typical semi (ie. Glock, Sig etc). But after watching a couple of YT videos I can now do it without following instruction. I know for you 1911 vets it's not a thing but for a 1911 newb I was pretty proud LOL.

Anyhow speaking of 1911's, what are some places you guys/gals have gone to for aftermarket stuff like grips, trigger parts etc.?

Cheers

First 1911?
Buddy if you like it there WILL be more.
My first pistol ever was a 1911 now I own 6 and am building a 7th

Ha ha. My thoughts too. He said first like he KNOWS more are coming. Smart guy on the initial purchase and the foresight.

Parts is still Brownells...but many LGS are good. Site sponsors above is the best place to start.

Nothing wrong with a "cheap Norc in .45ACP"...... I've had several of them over the years.... never had a lemon yet!

Great stuff guys...I don't think I'll be using it to compete with anytime soon but it'll be a gun to bring when I have guests/new shooters with me to try. Or just when I want to plink at clay pigeons.

How about grips? I've been reading up on the VZ G10 grips, they seem to cost a bit more, is there a functionality justification for the cost? What do you guys recommend for looks but also function?

G10’s are very good...I have several sets...for looks I always loved pachmeyer American legend grips...so cool..

There are cheaper g10 options other then vz, I like vz becouse I love all the color options but the thing I hate about them is that there are so many colour options and can t make up my mind.

Ah...I thought G10 was only a VZ thing, lol pardon my newb-ness

1911 grips?

I like some wood, checkered, double diamond pattern.... for synthetics, I like Pachmayr's without thumb swells:

I love my Norinco, I shoot exceptionally well with it! There are lots of places to get aftermarket stuff, but before you do, shoot it; shoot it a lot. You should put 500-1000 rounds through it and get as good as you can, then decide what you need to get better. These are tight, solid guns, and most will likely never wear them out. I reload, and last year put about 2000 through mine; and I'm not tired of it yet! Pistol is still stock BTW.

I love VZ grips! They're not cheap but they have so many different patterns and materials that it's easy to find a set that looks and feels great. I've owned a bunch over the years (although I'm currently 1911-less).
