Took place on Saturday 21st of April. I would have expected more guys out and you sure as heck can't use the weather as an excuse for a no show.

The practice went off without a hitch except for Gary dropping his front wheels into the soft surface of the range... right up to his axle. He got pulled out without too much trouble.

A few of us F'ers tried shooting on the reduced veebull at 300 and 600 yardages. It's going to be fun if we adopt this. I figure the sooner the better as the rest of the world is moving smartly along these lines!

That means the V at 300 is 1.5 inches and at 6 it's a whopping 3"...
and yes Bob P. they didn't move the centre of the V from the centre of the target.

Norm B was out sporting a new rig. One thing for sure he'll never loose it on the Range. It's a bright yellow with black stripes complete with a fancy decal of a pissed-off Bee! Neat...

The winds were rather light and they generally seemed more predicatable than they normally are at this range.

Still trying to hit that V you got your work cut out for you... you so much as breath wrong it's outta there.

We had only a couple of stoppages because of boats in the water... during the afternoon part...

Well John, I did plan to get there. However the kids planned a surprise 25th anniversary party for the wife and I so....Looks like I will make it to Borden next weekend for the Intro Day instead.
Don't forget we have a 3-day practice at Cedar Springs on Victoria Day weekend. Good time to get some load testing done and get the spider webs out of the barrels and from between the ears.

So what did you get for your anniversary... a bran spanking new TR rig?

I've got all the dates marked down now... I'll see you at Borden probably... I'm planning on being there as I need the practice... even at short range!...

I'm planning on shooting Victoria Day... if you don't shoot Victoria Day you can kiss the ORA Annual Grand agg on the way out the door...

Is this an invite only or anybody can attend?

Bolt guns only or semis also allowed?

On a side note on my way back from Silverdale I saw the range in Winona was in use :)

Paulinski,
You can attend a practice day with the ORA by getting in touch with the event orginizer and paying a $20 guest fee. The guest fee is a one time only thing, after that s**t or get off the pot, as far as membership goes. The other way to do this is to attend an ORA Intro Day. This gives you the Intro Day plus another day, for the price of $30. See the ORA web page for details or PM me.

Max,
Of course it is ORA shoots at Winona, Cedar Springs, Kingston and Borden. I think anyone can rent the ranges for a day. As long as you pay the money, have the 5M insurance, put out 2 beach sentries and have a qualified RSO, it shouldn't be a problem.

John,
You will need to miss the 3 days at Cedar Springs to shoot Victoria Day Matches in Ottawa. The secret is to get all the other F'ers to go the CS, that way you will be up about 400 points on them:dancingbanana:

Well, give it a big wet kiss for me, I'm working again!
On another note...(hijack) what is happening wrt 2009 FCWC tryouts, etc, etc?

sloppy wet one??... dunno anything about tryouts Terry but I assume there's a humoid working on the technical stuff as we type in the background... maybe way way in the background and maybe goes by the handle Jim Thompson... seriously though I don't have any info on this but hopefully there's going to be folks from all over Canada interested in it...

guess we'll find out as the days go by... in the meantime we can rag each other about how well we're doing... or think we're doing etc.

Don't forget guys if it's our regular ORA Intro days... they have club guns you can use and ammo that works in them so if you don't have an existing rig or heaven forbid one that's acting up on you, not fully finished... you've mounted the scope backwards and just discovered it... you've come with rounds that don't have primers in them... don't laugh at the latter it's on record as happening and ahem more than once... no no not me!... one of our illustrious others...

Hey... just come anyway... don't let your hardware prevent you from coming out...

too funny Tom... so did you get a new TR rig or what... least they could have done for ya... or are you in the dog house more than the dogs?

Ya like Leo is gonna do the drive to Cedar Springs rolling right past the capitol, not stopping and not collecting points there... I think the ORA grand agg is bogus because of this... it's should be the bests of 3 or the best of five matches shot... but I'm tired of whinning about it... or hearing the answer as to why it's the way it is...

just wish the dates didn't coincide... I'd be at Cedar in a heartbeat otherwise...

what miss Art ribbing the heck outta me...

John, No new TR rig for me this year. I will have to shoot the same old Millennium rifle again this year. I just wish I was in the dog house, they get more attention then I do.
I agree about the Ont Agg. the people that go to the most shoots wins. If you go to all of them and someone else misses one, even if you don't shoot well, you can still win? You don't even have to shoot the whole match, just enough to get a few extra points. Then of course they took CS out of the Agg altogether. Borden is far enough for me to drive for a weekend, 4 hours each way. I don't need the frustration of an extra 2.5-4 hours to get to Kingston or Ottawa for a weekend.

Tom it's a little more convulted than just the number of matches attended. Apparently it's a certianly specific combination. Miss anyone of them you're out. Simple as that. It was explained to me in detail but when I was told I was focusing why it wasn't simply the best of say any 5 of our ORA matches year round. that way the books aren't cooked.

John, That is providing every match has the same number of points up for grabs. I think it should be decided at the beginning of the year, but don't tell anyone which matches.

Then that decision maker will be the yearly ORA agg holder:

Norm, someone like Eddie or Adrian could draw them. Or just draw three or four out of a hat, and drop them in an envelope and seal it until the end of the season.
I can remember years were 1st and 2nd were separated by a couple hundred points.

Maynard did anyone from DND come for a visit ? so far we haven't got any dates for Winona because they are having problems templating our firearms to the range all the info we gave them last year went out the door with the old RO .the big issue we're having is the 147gr max 7.62 and the the 303Mk8 ammo only rule, we shoot mostly military WW2 which included 8mm and 30/06 which isn't allowed and our modern shooters using 7.62 or .223 have their rifles tuned for 168 gr/ 75 gr which isn't allowed if they have changed this great .I'll contact the DnD tomorrow and see if we're good to go .I've got 40 guys waiting to get on with shooting .

John did I read you correctly, that if anyone has a problem with their rifle or if it isn't completed yet, that you would let them use one of your rifles to practice with??
I'm having some difficulties at moment so I'll need to borrow one of yours. Can you make sure to load the ammo with the pointy end of the bullet sticking out of the case this time?
Don't worry John,I'll be sure to adjust everything back to NORMAL after I clean it for you!...Oh and can you supply the rest and rear bag and can you carry it to the line for me too? You know I appreciate it.!

So Norm's driving a SUPER BEE now?? No more Mongoose.Wonder how it'll get along with a Viper?

On another note...seasonal aggs don't mean nothing but an attendance award IMHO! Never got one in school and I don't think I'd try now.Just making it out to as many GOOD days as I can works for me just fine.

Tom,will the barracks be available for Vic day and whom do we need to contact to reserve the one with the hot tub??

OK and now we all gotta give names to our guns.Maybe an idea for another post .Should have to register the names so we don't show up with same names.Someone contact Heinz and get him to start Name Registry for F'ers.
I got a spot on my stock ...room for a sponsors logo." VIAGARA keeps your barrel stiff and your bullets shootin straight""" whadaya think???

Damn....meds wearin off ...this stuff starting to make sense.
See Ya'll soon

Gord, VIAGARA could cause elevation problems even at short range:p
I can just see all the F'ers rifles with stickers all over them looking like something out of NASCAR.
I am looking into the cost of the barracks for Victoria Day weekend. I don't know about the hot tube, but maybe we could shove you through the dishwasher in the kitchen a few times.

Tom ,Just saw the ORA new schedule and it looks like there is a Precision Match on the same weekend at Borden.
Now I gotta figure out how to get both done!
I've got to give you a call sometime soon
